1915-2015 Write the names of the victims of the genocide on Inhomage.com
In a month the Armenians around the world will commemorate the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.
Violated, hurt, frustrated, but Armenians, we must definitely say to the world that the time for geopolitical procrastination is exceeded. We do not ask ourselves as victims, but claimants of simple justice.
In the absence of burials, www.inhomage.com allows each of us to write the names of those who gave their lives on the ancestral soil. This duty accomplished immediately call another: ensure permanent recognition of the Genocide of the Armenian people and the inevitable consequences of this.
Minor located from a map of Asia to the home page and dated 1920 (Treaty of Sèvres), it reveals Armenia whose contours were drawn in 1918 by US President Woodrow Wilson. The idea is to allow the Armenian diaspora to situate the birth place of their dead ancestors during the Genocide and record their names in a database. A second operation allows interactive viewing stored names, region by region, and to be able to relate to a family originally from the same place but now living on the other side of the earth.
Cornered, the Turkish government has embarked on an unprecedented campaign of denial that we would still be victims. The time has come for all Armenians to come into resistance. Thus, on the occasion of the 100th commemoration of this human disaster, we abjure not lock you in the consent by silence, by going immediately to the site Inhomage.com ICI in which the world will discover the names victims of the Young Turks of Union and Progress government. Duty in honor and in memory of the 1.5 million martyrs.
Thank you
Jean Eckian

Chicago artist marks Armenian genocide with Guernica-size work

(Reuters) – One hundred years after the mass killing of Armenians, a Chicago artist has created a monumental painting to honor the victims and celebrate a culture that nearly vanished.
The 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman troops left up to an estimated 1.5 million people dead and forced the exile of millions more, threatening a 3,000-year-old culture rich in architecture, literature, music and dance. It is widely seen as the 20th century’s first genocide.
Seeking to promote awareness of the culture and the tragedy, Chicago-based artist Jackie Kazarian embarked on a painting of enormous scale, called Project 1915, to be displayed for the first time in Chicago’s Mana Contemporary from April 17 to May 29.
Project 1915 is a semi-abstract landscape splashed with bold images and text from ancient Armenian maps and church architecture, united by a pattern of needle lace by Kazarian’s Armenian-born grandmother and with colors and symbols from illuminated manuscripts.
Kazarian, who has Armenian roots, drew on Pablo Picasso’s epic painting Guernica, which depicts the horror of a northern Spanish village’s bombing during Spain’s civil war, for her painting.
It is the exact same size as Guernica at 11.5 feet by 26 feet.
“No one would have known what happened in Guernica if it wasn’t for that painting,” Kazarian said.
The nature and scale of the killings of Armenians by Ottoman forces during World War One remain highly contentious.
While a number of countries define the massacres as genocide and while Turkey accepts that many Armenians died in partisan fighting, the Turkish government denies that up to 1.5 million were killed and that this was an act of genocide.
Last year Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan made unprecedented condolences to the grandchildren of Armenians killed at the time, but the legacy remains an obstacle to reviving frozen relations between Turkey and neighboring Armenia, a small former Soviet territory.
In Kazarian’s paintings, two open hands span the bottom corners, as if holding up the work and an entire culture. It is a gesture Kazarian said she remembers her grandmother often using.
“This is a very visceral, emotional project. But like any art that references a painful past, it is about remembering, healing and educating ourselves to make a better world,” Kazarian said.
After its Chicago exhibition the non-profit painting will travel to universities and galleries across the United States and the world before it is donated to a cultural institution for a permanent home.
Armenian: Celebrities to Read ‘100 Seconds’ of Armenian Genocide Testimonies
YEREVAN (Armenpress)—The dissemination of individual stories about the Armenian Genocide is of special significance in commemorating the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Secretary of Armenia’s State Commission on Coordination of the Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centenial and Chief of Staff of the President of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, said Monday during an event marking the launch of a project called “100 Seconds,” being carried out my MediaMax and VivaCell-MTS. Sargysan said first-hand stories show how every Armenian village, family and community was subject to the crime of genocide.
The presentation of the project based on eyewitness accounts of the Armenian Genocide released by the National Archives of Armenia was held at Komitas Museum-Institute on March 23. Various renowned people from different countries, including actors, writers, musicians and others have been offered to read excerpts from those testimonies for 100 seconds. There are 24 video clips, which will be shown every day until April 23rd.
Sargsyan mentioned that the commemoration of the centennial of the Armenian Genocide is hinged on four pillars: remembrance, gratitude, struggle, and rebirth.
“The main goal of the project is to draw the attention of mankind to the horrible sufferings that the Armenians underwent a century ago. It’s not easy to read and listen to those testimonies, but the more people are shocked by what they hear, the greater the likelihood that they will do everything they can to prevent future genocides,” Director of MediaMax Ara Tadevosyan said.
General Director of VivaCell-MTS Ralph Yirikian said the project is a message to the civilized world to remember and condemn the Armenian Genocide.

France: Valérie Boyer inaugurates 100 memory tree
“I wanted to highlight a project that materializes this Saturday, March 21, 2015, planting hundreds of trees around the monument of genocide. This plantation result of a partnership between the City Hall from the 11th and 12th districts and the association of Blue Cross of Armenians in France is a symbolic act of this year’s commemoration.
Thus, 100 almond trees and pomegranates will be planted around the memorial of the Armenian genocide, throughout 2015.
A tree is a life that lost during the deportations which 1.5 million Armenians perished, that many refugees tried to recreate after being hosted in 1922 in Marseille, the survivors and their descendants today are estimated nearly 80 000 inhabitants in the city of Marseille.
This space will become a “Memorial Park”, which commits the Armenian community but also the municipality to take care of the trees planted during this ceremony. The project to create the Memorial Park will be completed in the fall of 2015, with a second phase of planting bringing to 100 the total number of trees. This second phase will be funded through donations from individuals and businesses.
History, especially when it is a crime against humanity should never be forgotten.
Therefore, is necessary and urgent to legislate to propose a new classification of denial. I thus tabled in the National Assembly, a proposed new law, the fruit of reflection that I conducted with leading criminal lawyers lawyers. That is why I propose that denial is no longer considered by law as a mere abuse of freedom of expression, but as a crime against humanity.
That 2015 is the year of justice, memory and hope! »
