Nikol Pashinyan urges to stop protest actions in Stepanakert

Nikol Pashinyan urges to stop protest actions in Stepanakert

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the situation in Artsakh where rallies took place for several days due to the scandalous involvement of the security forces. As Armenpress reports, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia stated on Facebook during the live broadcast that there is no doubt that the behavior of representatives of the power structures is causing anxiety. “It is unacceptable for any attempt to solve the problem violently, no matter who it is. Of course, this situation should be solved very specifically and bring concrete conclusions and conclusions. I closely follow the developments in Artsakh. During this period, I have always been in touch with Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan. I am pleased to note that the President of Artsakh has met several times with the representatives of the demonstrators and reached concrete agreements, “Pashinyan stressed, as reported by Armenpress.

He added that the President of Artsakh stated that he is going to implement those agreements, carry out a full and complete investigation, and also make organizational conclusions. “During the meeting of the representatives of the demonstrators and the President of Artsakh, a mutual understanding on the direction and logic of future events has been achieved. And now, in essence, I think that there is a stage in which our respected demonstrators should allow the Artsakh President to implement those agreements. It is obvious and understandable that these arrangements should be carried out in a calm, non-nervous environment, and this continuing situation, the purpose of which is to make certain personnel and organizational conclusions, essentially it hampers the development of further processes, ” the Prime Minister.

Nikol Pashinyan expressed an opinion that it would be right if demonstrators now have the opportunity to realize the agreements reached during the recent meetings. “And if in the course of the events, the arrangements are not implemented, there are no conclusions, only then it will make sense to continue any protest action. The Artsakh authorities today state that they find it very logical to draw conclusions from this situation, and the logic of these conclusions seems to have been reached between the demonstrators and the authorities. Every day, several times I learn about the situation and this awareness allows me to urge our beloved demonstrators to stop the demonstration and allow the Artsakh authorities to realize the agreements reached between the demonstrators and the authorities. In his conversation with me, the President of Artsakh reaffirmed his commitment to implement those agreements, and in this case it is necessary to give that opportunity, “said the Prime Minister of Armenia.

Pashinyan did not want to go into details, to evaluate what happened because in this situation it is more important that the problem be resolved not in conflict, but in an atmosphere of agreement.

Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin urges Armenians to ‘stay strong,’ denies Azerbaijan’s suicide claims

September 16, 2017 By administrator

A day after arriving in the Israeli capital after being pardoned, Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin has called on Armenia to defend Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) at all costs and has denied official Baku’s claims that he attempted suicide in an Azerbaijani prison a night before that country’s president Ilham Aliyev pardoned him.

“Armenians, you stay strong. These people [Azerbaijani government] want to see you all dead. Period. And if you lose Karabakh as a result of negotiations, or weakening of Armenia’s position – know that they will come to massacre you. Like the Turks did a 100 years ago. Brutality has already surpassed all permissible limits,” said Lapshin in a Facebook post on Friday, according to Asbarez.

“I’m ashamed to admit, but before I went to prison, I sincerely believed that the Karabakh conflict was very controversial and must be resolved with respect for the national borders of Azerbaijan. What an idiot I was! Azerbaijan began the reign of terror against Armenians in Sumgait, Baku, and Karabakh in 1988. In accordance with the Nazi scheme “juden frei,” only with respect to Armenians, not Jews,” said Lapshin on his Facebook page.

“Meanwhile, in the indictment against me, signed by deputy prosecutor general of Azerbaijan Rustam Usubov, the following is literally written “…accused Lapshin called the occupied Karabakh region ‘Artsakh,’ which proves, along with his friend on Facebook, Sergey Shahverdyan, his separatist actions,” explained Lapshin who added: “It is indicative that Azerbaijan, which insists on tolerance from morning to night, considers the Armenian name of Karabakh – Artsakh to be illegal.”

On the day of Lapshin’s release from the Baku prison, the Azerbaijani press published a letter that Lapshin allegedly wrote on the day of his pardon–and a day after official Baku claimed he attempted suicide–praising Aliyev, Azerbaijan and claiming that he was ill-informed about the Karabakh issue. He added that he wished for the liberation of “Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani territories.” His posts on Facebook following his return to Israel suggest that he might have been coerced into signing the letter.

In his first blog post since being pardoned and leaving Baku for the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv, Lapshin, who was serving a three-year prison sentence for visiting Artsakh and writing about the country in his travel
blogs.

Writing from Hof Hacarmel Beaches in Haifa in his Live Journal blog, Lapshin said: “I categorically deny the official Azerbaijan deception that I allegedly attempted suicide in Baku’s prison on September 10, 2017. According to Azerbaijani media, president Aliyev demonstrated humanity and pitied me for the suicide and pardoned me after the non-existent suicide attempt.”

He recounts in detail how the night before Aliyev’s pardon, unknown assailants entered his jail cell and beat him unconscious.

“Overnight on September 11 of 2017, when I was getting ready to go to bed in cell N10 of the Baku prison, I suddenly heard the sound of a key in the door, and the door opened. I was lying with my back to the door and wasn’t able to stand up when some people took me from the neck and hands and hit me several times. I don’t remember anything else. What I remember next was that I was in the intensive care clinic in Baku where I was hooked to some machines and an oxygen mask. My two teeth were also broken, while my entire back was covered with bruises,” said Lapshin in his blog.

“I think the attackers were either intimidated or the goal was to discredit the Aliyev regime in Azerbaijan. My death in a Baku prison would be beneficial for some people who are close to president Aliyev, but who believe that it’s time for Aliyev to resign. I have to emphasize that this is my version despite the fact that it is based on the opinions of a number of Azerbaijani reporters and democratic opposition activists living abroad who are forced to live away from their motherland,” added Lapshin.

The blogger added that after a thorough medical examination upon his return to Tel Aviv, doctors said that the injuries suffered by Lapshin were consistent with physical abuse and not a suicide attempt.

“The doctors explained that a minor bruise near my neck and my right shoulder, and were not consistent with a suicide attempt since in the event of a hanging, the bruises would appear near the ear,” said Lapshin adding that he would never attempt suicide on his mother’s birthday, which is on September 10 and at a time when his extradition negotiations had entered their final stage.

The blogger also said that three days after the incident in his cell, he is still groggy from the medication he was given at the intensive care unit. He also said that he has difficulty eating was given an IV for sustenance.

Erdogan urges Turks living in Europe to Outbreed Whites in Europe

March 18, 2017 By administrator

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Turks living in Europe to have at least five children so that they can outbreed whites and take over the continent—and in that way become “the future of Europe.”

There are at least 7.8 million Turks in Europe, and very likely more who have become European citizens and are thus no longer counted as “Turks” by the deliberately race-denying liberal governments.

Erdogan made his call for the racial colonization of Europe by Turks while campaigning last week in the city of Eskisehir for a referendum that would usher in a presidential system and enhance his powers.

Erdogan’s comments were made in reaction to moves by the governments of Germany and the Netherlands to outlaw Turkish election meetings in those counties.

The Dutch government prevented a Turkish minister from addressing a crowd in Rotterdam, and later used water cannons to disperse Turkish demonstrators in the city after they turned violent.

On Friday, Erdogan told Turks in Europe that they must “Go live in better neighborhoods. Drive the best cars. Live in the best houses. Make not three, but five children. Because you are the future of Europe. That will be the best response to the injustices against you.”

Erdogan has also accused the Dutch government of state terrorism, acting like “Nazi remnants,” and having a “rotten” character.

In addition, Turkey’s interior minister, Suleyman Soylu, said last week that the EU was  “playing games” to prevent Ankara from becoming strong, and that Turkey could send 15,000 “refugees” a month to Europe to “blow its mind.”

“I’m telling you, Europe, do you have that courage? If you want, we could open the way for 15,000 refugees that we don’t send each month and blow your mind,” Süleyman Soylu said late Thursday, according to Hurriyet.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned that Europe is headed for “wars of religion,” claiming Dutch politicians are taking the continent “to a cliff.”

“There is no difference between the mindsets of Geert Wilders and social democrats in the Netherlands. They all have the same mindset…that mindset is taking Europe to the cliff. Soon wars of religion may and will start in Europe.”

The statements—and the racial demographic reality—underline the fact that Europe can only be saved through the mass repatriation of all non-Europeans back to their homelands. Anything less is simply ignoring the reality of nonwhite population growth and its inevitable consequence of swamping native Europeans in their own nations.

Pope Francis Urges World To Never Forget Armenian Genocide

In a visit to Armenia, Pope Francis has urged the world to never forget the Ottoman-era slaughter of some 1.5 million Armenians which he termed a genocide – a characterization likely to cause tensions with Turkey.

The Pope called it “genocide” publicly for the first time last year – which sparked a furious reaction from Turkey. As Weekend Edition Saturday reported, Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan told him not to do it again and recalled its ambassador from the Vatican for 10 months.

NPR’s Sylvia Poggioli, reporting from Armenia, explained that the Pope ad-libbed the politically-charged term into prepared remarks at the presidential palace Friday evening:

“At a Vatican briefing, the spokesman – Father Federico Lombardi – used the Armenian term … which means ‘the great evil.’ And he bristled when asked why he didn’t say genocide. So when the prepared text of the pope’s speech last night used only the Armenian term, most of us thought that was a possible diplomatic overture towards Turkey.

“But in his actual delivery, the pope added the word genocide. He said: That genocide, made possible by the twisted racial, ideological, or religious aims that darken the minds of the tormentors, even to the point of planning the annihilation of entire peoples.”

The pope’s comments drew a standing ovation from Armenia’s president, she added. Francis has long been a vocal supporter of the Armenian cause, which dates back to his close relationship with the Armenian diaspora community in his native Argentina, as Sylvia has reported.

Lombardi said the Vatican “wasn’t aiming to renew conflict with Turkey by repeating the term, stressing that the pope has always called for reconciliation,” according to The Associated Press.

Turkey did not immediately respond to the characterization. Even though “historians widely agree that 1.5 million Armenians were killed,” Sylvia explained, the country “vehemently rejects the accusation of genocide, claiming the number of dead was smaller and that they were victims of civil strife.”

On Saturday, Francis visited the Armenian genocide memorial in Yerevan. Sylvia said Francis prayed and then wrote this in the memorial guest book:

“Here I pray with pain in my heart, so that never again will there be tragedies like this. …May God protect the memory of the Armenian people. Memory should never be watered down or forgotten. Memory is the source of peace and the future.”

Armenians, who are primarily Orthodox with a Catholic minority, responded positively to the pope’s visit. They seemed “genuinely honored to welcome the pope,” as the AP reported.

“We have the memory of the genocide in our genes,” 45-year-old Alexander Rubenyan told the wire service. “It used to be a gene of sadness, but with every visit of people like the pope the Armenian gene is becoming more alive and full of optimism.”

Germany: Bundestag urges Angela Merkel to stand up to Turkey

Ankara is readying an ‘action plan’ in response to Germany’s Armenian genocide resolution.

By JANOSCH DELCKER

(politico.eu) BERLIN — As Angela Merkel tries to salvage the EU’s refugee deal with Turkey, German MPs want her to stand up to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other Turkish officials for their angry and aggressive response to a vote on the Armenian genocide.

The chancellor was accused of being mealy-mouthed in her response to verbal attacks by Erdoğan and others on German MPs of Turkish origin for their role in the Bundestag’s (lower house) approval of a resolution declaring the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Armenian Christians under Ottoman rule an act of genocide.

“Their blood is impure and we know whose mouthpiece they are,” the Turkish president said in Istanbul on Sunday, singling out 11 German MPs of Turkish descent. They were “the long arm of the separatist terrorists placed in Germany,” he said.

Furious at last week’s vote, Ankara withdrew its ambassador to Berlin, leaving Merkel struggling to ring-fence a deal for Turkey to help Europe with its refugee crisis in return for visa liberalization for Turks. Relations were already strained after a German comedian read out an obscene poem about Erdoğan on TV. Under pressure, Germany agreed to prosecute him.

Turkey opposes the term “genocide” being attached to the deportation and murder of members of the Christian Armenian authority by Ottoman Empire authorities during World War I, when Turkey was a German ally. While acknowledging there were deaths and deportations, Turkey rejects as exaggerated estimates that 800,000-1.5 million people died between 1915-16.

Last weekend, Ankara’s Mayor İbrahim Melih Gökçek tweeted a collage of photos of 11 German-Turkish members of the Bundestag who backed the genocide resolution, accusing them of “stabbing us in the back.”

Merkel’s response, during a news conference Tuesday, was to call the Turkish response “incomprehensible” and defend the MPs in question as “freely elected parliamentarians.”

This fell far short of how the opposition Greens expected the chancellor to defend their German-Turkish co-chair Cem Özdemir, whose home has been put under increased police protection since the vote.

“The chancellor has to take up a definite position [against Erdogan,]” his Green colleague Claudia Roth, who is a vice-president of the Bundestag, told DPA news agency. “We can’t let him get away with that.”

Already in the lead-up to last Thursday’s vote, Özdemir said he had received insults calling him “a traitor, Armenian pig, son of a whore, Armenian terrorist, or even a Nazi.”

“People – which includes, unfortunately, prominent people – are consciously stirring up hatred,” the Green MP, who had been a driving force behind the Armenian resolution, told journalists on Monday.

Conservative MP Michael Grosse-Brömer, a parliamentary leader of Merkel’s conservatives, urged members of the Bundestag to “stand by one another” and reject any attempt at undue influence, saying it was “completely unacceptable to threaten MPs of Turkish descent based on how they vote.”

Thomas Oppermann, leader of the Social Democrat bloc — Merkel’s partners in the ruling ‘grand coalition’ —  said he hoped the chancellor would make it very clear “that she finds this witch-hunt against German parliamentarians intolerable.” The opposition Left party requested a special debate on the issue, which will take place on Thursday.

So far, however, the German protests have been to no avail. Ibrahim Kalin, a spokesman for Erdoğan, said on Wednesday that Turkey was “preparing an action plan” against Germany over the Armenian vote, with the foreign ministry in charge of drawing up the specific measures to take.

On Tuesday, the mayor of the Pazar district, which is home to members of Cem Özdemir’s family, told Turkish journalists he planned to withdraw Özdemir’s honorary citizenship of the town. Instead, the title will be offered to the only German MP to vote against the Armenian genocide resolution, the conservative backbencher Bettina Kudla.

Also on Tuesday, a scheduled German media visit to a Turkish air base in Incirlik, where German fighter jets are stationed to praticipate in the international campaign against ISIL, was cancelled at the last-minute by Turkish authorities.

The Turkish government had hoped that its lobbying and influence among the 2.9 million German citizens of Turkish ancestry — who make up about 4 percent of the entire population — would prevent the repeatedly postponed Armenian vote.

“I believe many of the attacks are meant to stir up the Turkish community in Germany, and to increasingly set them against the rest of the German population,” Hans-Georg Fleck from the Istanbul bureau of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, a German Liberal think-tank, told Deutschlandfunk radio on Wednesday, adding that a “considerable share of Turks in Germany, at least among those who can still vote in Turkey, is particularly receptive to Mr. Erdoğan’s arguments and propaganda.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Turkish ambassador to Germany was still out of the country, according to an embassy spokesman. The government in Berlin was sticking to a softer diplomatic approach: The German foreign ministry said Tuesday it had “invited” a representative of the embassy to discuss recent developments.

ANCA-WR Urges Voter Registration in California

May 24, 2016 By administrator

vote registrationAs the deadline to register to vote for the California Primary Elections approaches, Elen Asatryan, the Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region issued a letter encouraging voter registration and participation in the Primary Election on June 7.

Below is the text of that letter, titled “A forced to be reckoned with…” in reference to a Los Angeles Times article that called the Armenian-American constituency “a force to be reckoned with.”

Friends,

That subject line says it all. On Friday the LA Times ran a story detailing how the Armenian American vote, led by the ANCA-WR and Hye Votes COULD be key to the 43rd Assembly District race between our highly qualified Ardy Kassakhian and the CCSA backed Laura Friedman, the same organization founded by the current head of the Magnolia charter schools linked to Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen and his movement.

While definitely a positive story, especially when numerous seasoned political consultants describe our community as “a force to be reckoned with,” or “playing at a different level,” there was one key word to focus on: “COULD”

In the end, “COULD” doesn’t count. There is only one word that counts: “WILL”.

Our community WILL be the deciding vote in the 43rd Assembly, the 5th LA County Supervisors, and the 25th State Senate districts by electing Ardy Kassakhian, Ara Najarian and Anthony Portantino respectively, if we take a stand.

We WILL be a force to be reckoned with and we WILL continue to play at a different level because we have people like you, but only if you show up to the front lines.

Election Day is two weeks away, we need you now.

If you’re not registered to vote, register by 11:59pm on Monday, May 23rd. If you are registered, MAKE SURE TO VOTE by either sending in your vote-by-mail ballot today or VOTE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 7th.

Our strength is in our UNITY and making our COLLECTIVE VOICE heard. Spread the word by making sure all your friends and family are registered and ready to vote. We cannot let the special interests silence our community.

As our Chair Nora Hovsepian wrote to you on Friday, the special interests are spending over 1 million dollars in negative and dirty campaign tactics to try to buy the 43rd CA Assembly district seat, but when all is said and done – you hold the power of the outcome with your vote.

The time to act is now.

All election details are available at ANCAWR.org/2016elections

Let’s Rock the HyeVote!

In Common Cause,

Elen Asatryan

Executive Director

P.S- Our staff and volunteers are working around the clock to register community members to vote and get the vote out. Please also take some time to stop by the campaign office to help out, Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. We can use all the helping hands we can get.

Moscow urges Turkey to stop ‘meddling in neighbors’ affairs’ Syria & Karabakh

April 4, 2016 By administrator

b5c5f8f3-0adf-43b7-bdb8-9ae061dc76c5Russia’s foreign minister has urged Turkey to stop what he called interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and end support for terrorism.

“In general, it is important for our Turkish neighbors right now to aim at ending their meddling in the internal affairs of other states, be it Iraq or Syria,” Sergei Lavrov said.

He made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Moldovan counterpart Andrei Galbur in Moscow on Monday.

“There are enough facts and evidence that Turkey continues this interference and supports terrorism,” he added.

Ankara is widely believed to be the key conduit for armed militants slipping into Syria to join the foreign-backed militancy aimed at toppling the Damascus government.

Earlier this month, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said that purported evidence showed Ankara transferred arms and military hardware to the Daesh terrorist group in Syria under the cover of air convoys.

In February, the Russian Foreign Ministry also said that Ankara has been helping militants enter Syria illegally and join the terrorist groups that are fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Turkey also stands accused of buying oil from Daesh. Russia has released satellite images, apparently showing long lines of trucks carrying oil from Daesh-controlled areas in northeastern Syria into Turkey.

Fighting over Karabakh

Also on Monday, Lavrov referred to the recent clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the disputed border region of Karabakh, saying Ankara was “one-sided” in supporting its ally, Baku, in the fighting.

On Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged his support for Azerbaijan, saying, “We pray our Azerbaijani brothers will prevail in these clashes with the least casualties.”

The fighting between the two countries erupted last Friday, leaving at least 33 troops and two civilians dead.

Israel urges citizens to leave Turkey due to terrorist threat

March 28, 2016 By administrator

defaultThe counterterrorism bureau of Israel has urged its citizens visiting Turkey to leave because of a terrorist threat in the country.

The aforementioned is noted in a statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

According to this document, the recent terrorism in Istanbul showed yet again that there is a high level of threat that the Islamic State would attack Turkish tourist attractions.

Thus, the Israeli authorities have raised the warning against travel to Turkey to “level 2.”

Four people, including three Israeli citizens, had died in the March 19 suicide bombing in Istanbul.

Terrorist State of Turkey Urges All Citizens to Leave Iraq Immediately

December 9, 2015 By administrator

turkish embassy in BaghdadCiting security risks, the Turkish government has warned any of its citizens traveling in Iraq

On Wednesday, Turkey’s foreign ministry issued a statement calling for any citizens in Iraq to leave immediately.

“We strongly advise those whose stay is not essential to leave those provinces as soon as possible,” the statements reads. “The scope of our travel warning to Iraq has expanded to include all provinces.

The foreign ministry cites increased security risks, such as threats targeting Turkish businesses, as well as concerns over violence, abduction, and other attacks.

In addition, the statement warns any Turkish citizens currently residing in the Iraqi Kurdish region to avoid any area where anti-terror operations are being carried out against Daesh, also known as ISIL/the Islamic State.

The statement comes amid rising tensions between Ankara and Baghdad. Last week, hundreds of Turkish troops and artillery units entered northern Iraq. Viewing the incident as a breach of sovereignty, the Iraqi government gave Turkey 48 hours to remove the military units.

“The Iraqi government confirms its firm and categorical rejection of any action of this kind issued by any country and violates our national sovereignty and we will treat any foreign ground combat troops sent by any country as a hostile act and deal with it on that basis,” reads a statement on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s website.

Baghdad has said it will file a complaint with the United Nations Security Council over the matter.

“Many states are really upset with Ankara and that could well show up in a UN discussion,” Daniel Pipes, president of the Middle East Forum, told Sputnik.

“Nominally the NATO allies of Turkey have supported it in the confrontation with the Russian air force, but in fact there’s a lot of grumbling; no one is happy about this confrontation.”

Jewish organization urges to recognize Armenian Genocide

October 22, 2015 By administrator

JCPA councilThe Jewish Council for Public Affairs at its annual meeting last week called on Jewish community organizations to lobby Congress and the White House to formally recognize the Armenian genocide. A JCPA spokesman on Wednesday confirmed that the resolution was the umbrella group’s first recognition of the Armenian genocide.

The Reform movement has called the massacres a genocide, but many other organizations have resisted such moves, Asbarez reported.

The resolution calls for the Jewish community to work with Armenian-American groups to advance recognition of the genocide.

“We must not let the politics of the moment, or the U.S. government’s relationship with Turkey, sway our moral obligation to recognize the suffering of the Armenian people,” it says.
