January 31, 2018 By administrator

By Vanoush Khatchaturyan,

The Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School, in conjunction with the Knights and Daughters of Vartan (Fresno) is proud to bring this movie to Fresno. “Intent to Destroy,” by veteran documentarian Joe Berlinger, is an interesting hybrid. It’s partly an account of the Armenian Genocide and the ongoing efforts of the Turkish government to deny it, and partly a look at attempts to make films about the killings, including the 2016 drama “The Promise.” Tell your friends, tell your family, get your tickets (I got mine) and help support this movie, which is part of the overall campaign of Armenian Genocide justice.

Marshall is your host, this is a 1 night only screening of INTENT TO DESTROY Wednesday, February 21, 2018 @ 7:30 pm, we have to sell 36 more tickets in order for the Imax Cinema at Riverpark to hold the theather.  PLEASE ORDER TODAY and insure your seats its limited seating of 120

Intent to Destroy Documentary

By Wally Sarkeesian

UCLA: October 12th the The Promise institute for Human right presented Special Advance Screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary Intent to Destroy directed by award-winning filmmaker Joe Berlinger. The room 1458 was packed with attendees young and old,  the Director of The promise Institut Asli Bali PHD. began welcoming the audience with brief introduction. shortly After the film, she convene a panel featuring Intent to Destroy producers Dr. Eric Esrailian,  Carla Garapedian and legendary Hollywood film producer Mike Medavoy. Followed with reception.

By shining a light on the mechanism of denial over the past century—and the aggressive suppression of genocide depiction—he aims to extinguish the notion of any “debate” by revealing the absurdity of denial against the irrefutable facts he comprehensively lays out in the film.

Pulling back the curtain on Genocide censorship in Hollywood due to U.S. government pressure to appease a strategic ally, Intent To Destroy embeds with a historic feature production as a springboard to explore the violent history of the Armenian Genocide and legacy of Turkish suppression and denial over the past century.

Joe Berlinger’s thirteenth feature documentary film captures the cinematic and political challenges of producing a historically meaningful, big-budget feature film in an environment rife with political suppression and threats of retaliation. By intertwining these three separate threads – the modern day production of The Promise, the history of the Genocide and the century of international repression – Intent To Destroy coalesces to provide a comprehensive view on the atrocities of 1915 to 1923 and their resounding aftermath right up until the present day.

As Elie Wiesel has so eloquently stated, the final stage of Genocide is denial. Intent to Destroy pulls back the curtain of political resistance and historical amnesia to finally present a more complete account of Armenia – the Genocide, its delayed recognition and a nearly forgotten history of suffering and heroism in the hope of inspiring a collective sense of international justice and humanity.

Women of 1915’ Screening Armenoid Productions announced the Montebello Premiere of the multi-award winning documentary film, Women of 1915. The red carpet event is sponsored by the Armenian Nation Committee of America- San Gabriel Valley Chapter in collaboration with Armenian Relief Society – Western USA, Ani & Nairy Chapters. A limited number of seats to the Montebello premiere of Women of 1915 are available and may be purchased online or by calling 818-939-9282. With much anticipation, four-time regional Emmy award winning filmmaker Bared Maronian’s documentary film, Women of 1915, is the first documentary ever to unveil the role of the Armenian women of the era who lived through the horrors of the first Genocide of the 20th century.
The documentary also highlights the integral role of heroic American and European humanitarian women advocates who flocked into the killing fields of the Armenian Genocide and saved tens of thousands of lives, empowering the Armenian women as pillars of war-torn, post-Genocide societies.
“We’ve shown the film literally around the world: All the way from Australia to France, the U.K., many Canadian and American cities, where we have received rave reviews in local main stream publications. Soon we will be screening the film in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
I’m thrilled that on July 27, we are bringing this important film to the Montebello community and very grateful to the local ARS and ANCA for sponsoring this event.” said Maronian. Women of 1915 is the winner of the 2016 Golden Pom Award and 2016 Best Documentary Award at the Pomegranate Film Festival of Toronto, Canada and the 2016 Armin T. Wegener Humanitarian Award Winner at the ARPA Film Festival of Hollywood, California.
“I’m very thankful to the Montebello community for this opportunity. It will be a beautiful event: elegant red carpet reception, screening of the film on a giant, state of the art projection system, followed by a Q & A with the filmmaker” said event organizing committee chair, Nayiri Attarian.
“it’s true that Women of 1915 deals with an Armenian story, but in reality it is an American story, a European story, a human story and that’s why a good portion of our audience has been non-Armenian. So please, invite your friends and neighbors to see Women of 1915 with you. After all, it was their grandmothers who saved Armenian lives”, concluded Maronian. The event will take place at the Montebello Armenian Center: 410 Washington Blvd., Montebello, CA 90640. Doors open at 6:30pm, red carpet reception starts at 7 p.m., movie starts at 8 p.m. followed by a Q&A session.
