The co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the OSCE (Ambassadors Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, Jacques Faure of France, and James Warlick United States of America) met with the foreign ministers of Armenia Edward Nalbandian and Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, to continue negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Andrzej Ambassador Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, also attended the meeting.
Ministers and Co-Chairs discussed substantive issues to advance the peace process, relying on the summit of 19 November in Vienna, which was followed by the Ministerial meeting on 5 December in Kyiv.
Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continue to work for a peaceful and negotiated settlement.
Ambassador Kasprzyk informed the Co-Chairs on the recent developments at the border and the Line of Contact.
The co-chairs expressed their deep concern at the continuing violence in the region, and stressed that the recent incidents undermine negotiations and reduce the prospects for peace.
They called on both parties to fully and unconditionally bound by the terms of the cease-fire.
The Co-Chairs plan to visit the region in the coming weeks to continue discussions with the presidents of both countries.
