A one-volume abridged edition of the 11-volume “Republic of Armenia. Historical encyclopedia” has been released.
Author Manvel Hakobyan presented the volume to reporters on Friday.
The encyclopedia contains information on all the settlements of Armenia, their history and culture. It also contains information on the historical and cultural monuments of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
“I also included information on Armenian cultural monuments in Georgia and Iran. All the pictures of the monuments – with few exceptions and their authors named – are mine,” Mr Hakobyan said.
Copies of the volume have been sent to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Speaker of Armenia’s Parliament Galust Sahakyan and Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
“I have worked on this book for 30 years, collecting all the necessary information and pictures of monuments. The volume contains information on more than 20,000 monuments, and more than 10,000 pictures.”
