Armenian Genocide denier Sevket Temiz, barred from Belgium hospital board

November 8, 2017 By administrator

Sevket Temiz, a Socialist member of the parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region since 2014, has been barred from the board of a university hospital in the Belgian capital because he denies the Armenian Genocide, Turkish media publications reveal.

Temiz, 47, was nominated by his party to join the board of Brugmann University Hospital ahead of an election to the post.

A Belgium-based group against genocide crimes sent a letter to Brussels Mayor Philip Close demanding that Temiz unconditionally accept that the massacre of 1.5 million Armenians in the Ottoman Turkey was Genocide.

The hospital’s board of doctors has also announced that it will protest Temiz’s candidacy if he fails to accept the historical truth.

Some three dozen countries, hundreds of local government bodies and international organizations have so far recognized the killings of 1.5 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as genocide. Turkey denies to this day.

Los Angeles: Shame on KPFK for allowing Genocide Denier Cenk Uygur on Air

June 24, 2016 By administrator

GAREN YEGPARIAN

BY GAREN YEGPARIAN

Just over ten years ago, in April of 2006 Cenk Uygur (along with one of his co-hosts) was to moderate a panel discussion of every candidate for statewide office in the June primary election. In case you don’t remember, or haven’t heard of, this guy, he is a Turk (raised in the U.S.), with an apparently conscience-less Armenian working beside him, who is the star of a left leaning talk show named “The Young Turks.” Uygur has been denying the Genocide since his college days at Penn and Columbia, two Ivy League universities.

A decade ago, KPFK, the Los Angeles area Pacifica station, a left leaning, pacifist establishment, was going to broadcast the whole program. Efforts by the ANCA led to his pulling out as moderator.

Four years ago, February 2012, Uygur spoke at the California Democratic Party’s convention in San Diego to a session organized by the CDP Progressive Caucus. This was despite Armenian efforts to prevent it. During the question-and-answer session, he said that wasn’t the time to address the Genocide issue, implying he would later.

Later, I was involved in the beginnings of an effort to actively pursue Uygur with the objective of getting him to change the name of his show. Unfortunately, that fizzled due to lack of time on the part of the participants.

He has not corrected his stance yet.

KPFK had him on air recently; I got a few calls from people who heard him on air.

This is a travesty.

It is utterly unacceptable for a station known for its conscience. I like, and have been a member of (the station is listener supported, not advertiser/corporate), the station. It really hurts that someone so debased as a Genocide denier is given time on KPFK’s airwaves.

Shame, amot! KPFK is now in the running for a SpitRain Award (you’ll remember Spit-Rain comes from the Armenian saying, “He’s so shameless, if you spit in his face, he’d think it’s rain”).

Call 818/985-2711 or -5735 (KPFK) or e-mail Interim Program Director Alan Minsky (ext 202) at pd@kpfk.org and let them have it. Demand an apology. Better yet, demand they have Uygur back on the air, specifically to apologize to Armenians and all people of conscience. And, while you’re at it, explain to the folks at the station that naming a show after the murderous Young Turks is like airing a program titled “Nazis” – how well would that go over?

Rep. John Boehner, Genocide denier is looking for future job as Turkish lobby

March 30, 2015 By administrator

img_9120-480x252-480x252Even though April 24, 2007, the Governor of the State of Ohio, Ted Strickland, has officially recognized the Armenian genocide, also called a crime against humanity.

While 39 members of Congress propose to vote a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide (HR 154), Republican John Boehner, successor to Nancy Pelosi (Democrat), chairman of the House ocicek-480x428-480x428f Representatives, said he was opposed to such recognition.

It must be said that the Representative of the 8th Ohio District since 1991, requested Friday by the President of the Turkish Parliament Cemil Çiçek and his staff could make it his full cooperation to obstruct the said resolution.

Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek on Tuesday asked if the leader of Germany‘s Greens, German-Turkish politician Cem Özdemir, is Armenian due to Özdemir’s remarks calling on Turkey to recognize as genocide the killings of Armenians during the last years of the Ottoman Empire.

“I am asking the deputy of German Greens Party just out of curiosity… Please answer, Cem Özdemir… Are you of Armenian origin?” Gökçek asked in remarks posted on Twitter.

Gökçek then shared a two-minute video about the countries that accuse Turkey of committing genocide and said “Those who blame us for genocide should accept these genocides first.”

The video, apparently a part of a documentary aired on state-run TRT, lists the countries’ previous acts that, the video said, amounted to genocide.

In his recent remarks during an interview with the Armenian Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Özdemir said Ankara should normalize bilateral relations with Yerevan and open the closed border with its easterly neighbor ahead of the upcoming centennial commemoration of the 1915 events and that Turkey “will eventually recognize the [1915 events as] genocide.”

Gökçek also accused Germany on Wednesday of practicing double standards. He shared an online news portal website link that reports Germany describing as chaos the anti-austerity protests ahead of the inauguration ceremony for the European Central Bank’s new headquarters in Frankfurt. The news portal also claims that Germany supported nationwide Gezi Park protests in Turkey in the summer of 2013 by using the common slogan during the Gezi Park protests, “Do not surrender.”

Gökçek, known for his controversial remarks, claimed in January that Israeli intelligence Mossad is behind the deadly Paris attacks that took place on Jan. 7 and Jan. 9.
