Jerusalem must be an independent country like the Vatican, Govern by the three religion

December 22, 2017 By administrator

By Wally Sarkeesian,

Jerusalem must be an independent country like the Vatican govern by the three religion Christian, Jews, and Muslims. No one religion should possess full control.

History of Jerusalem

During its long history, Jerusalem has been attacked 52 times, captured and recaptured 44 times, besieged 23 times, and destroyed twice.[1] The oldest part of the city was settled in the 4th millennium BCE, making Jerusalem one of the oldest cities in the world.[2]

Given the city’s central position in both Israeli nationalism and Palestinian nationalism, the selectivity required to summarize more than 5,000 years of inhabited history is often[3][4] influenced by ideological bias or background (see Historiography and nationalism). For example, the Jewish periods of the city’s history are important to Israeli nationalists, whose discourse states that modern Jews descend from the Israelites and Maccabees,[Note 1][Note 2] while the Islamic periods of the city’s history are important to Palestinian nationalists, whose discourse suggests that modern Palestinians descend from all the different peoples who have lived in the region.[Note 3][Note 4] As a result, both sides claim the history of the city has been politicized by the other in order to strengthen their relative claims to the city,[3][3][4][9][10] and that this is borne out by the different focuses the different writers place on the various events and eras in the city’s history.

Armenia 20th safest country globally, study finds

August 31, 2016 By administrator

yerevan safe-cityArmenia was listed among countries with a low crime level and, correspondingly, a high safety level in the 2016 mid-year Crime Index for Country compiled by Numbeo, the world’s largest database of user-generated content.

To present survey results, Numbeo uses the scale 0-100. Crime Index is an estimation of overall level of crime in a given city or a country. Numbeo considers crime levels lower than 20 as very low, crime levels between 20 and 40 as being low, crime levels between 40 and 60 as being moderate, crime levels between 60 and 80 as being high and finally crime levels higher than 80 as being very high. Safety index is, on the other way, quite opposite of crime index. If the city has a high safety index, it is considered very safe.

In particular, Armenia’s crime and safety indices stand at 29.02 and 70.98, respectively, placing the country in the 20th spot on a list of 118 countries worldwide. The country ranked the 16th in the same report a year earlier, and came in 33rd in the 2014 mid-year data.

Neighboring Georgia is the third safest country in the world, Azerbaijan ranks the 24th, Turkey and Iran follow in the 44th and 81st spots, respectively, while Russia is the 69th globally.

Also among the top five safest countries are South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan, while Venezuela, Papua New Guinea, Honduras, South Sudan and South Africa have the highest crime rates in the world.

Interestingly, Armenia’s capital city, Yerevan with a safety index of 69.42, ranks the 30th among 141 cities around the globe. Based on the cost of living index, Yerevan is the 15th in the list, while the purchasing power index tells a whole different story, putting the city fifth to last.

Numbeo gathers statistics from a range of sources, such as websites of supermarkets, taxi company websites, governmental institutions, newspaper articles and other surveys.

Sargsyan: What would you say of country whose script is not much different from that of Islamic State?

April 23, 2016 By administrator

Sargysian defaultYEREVAN. – What would you say of a country, a fully-fledged subject of international law, a member of the UN, Council of Europe and various other structures, a signatory of the humanitarian conventions, whose script is not much different from that of the Islamic State?

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday asked the abovementioned in his opening address at the second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, which has kicked off in capital city Yerevan.

“As recent crises in the Middle East have demonstrated, nowadays the issue of genocide prevention remains urgent and topical,” he stated and continued. “Lately, the world has been watching with repulsion how the terrorists of the Islamic State have been torturing, beheading and mutilating innocent people, including women, children, and elderly people. The world is shocked with the barbarities that are carried out by a gang of thugs, who can hardly be called to justice and can be fought against barely with missiles.

“Nevertheless, if the thugs that carry out atrocities are fought with missiles, a question comes up: what kind of responsibility should bear a State, a subject of international law, for condoning and carrying out similar crimes? What would you say of a country, a fully-fledged subject of international law, a member of the UN, Council of Europe and various other structures, a signatory of the humanitarian conventions, whose script is not much different from that of the Islamic State?

“Just a few weeks ago, during the large-scale offensive unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh, Azeri soldiers were not content with just shooting their arms: they mutilated elderly people, Armenian soldiers, decapitated them and cut off their ears and presented those actions in the social networks as a manifestation of national heroism. It was all evidently encouraged by the Azerbaijani authorities. Is not it bizarre that a country that pursues such barbaric policy and violates all the norms of civilized conduct, these days is going to host a conference under the rubric of ‘Alliance of Civilizations?’ Is this an approach to be tolerated? We must get to the point, when a display of such hatred shall not be tolerated, when any government shall refrain from such conduct mindful that it may be hold responsible for it.

“We as the international community must swiftly and resolutely eradicate all such instances of genocidal conduct wherever they should occur, as it was done some days ago by the leadership and public of Sweden with regard to the hate speech directed against Armenians by the Turkish nationalist Barbaros Leylani. This requires our concerted effort, perhaps even subordination of geopolitical interests, ability to voice strict and targeted condemnation. Unless we are able to nip such conduct in the bud, we will have to deal with the elimination of their various and unpredictable consequences; we will continue to face various crimes nourished by hatred – crimes, among which are the terrorist activities that gain new range and scale on our continent.”

The second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide has brought together representatives from governments and parliaments, major international and human rights organizations, renowned experts of international law, members of the media, and numerous other interested persons.

The attendees include renowned actor, filmmaker and philanthropist George Clooney; The Washington Post editor and reviewer David Ignatius; and co-founder of 100 LIVES and the Aurora Prize and president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, businessmen and prominent philanthropists Vartan Gregorian.

US Ambassador: Armenia is a wonderful country that is achieving great things

November 11, 2015 By administrator

4621260500YEREVAN. – Armenia is a wonderful country that is achieving great things, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated in his speech at the meeting with the representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) today.

“I have seen many positive changes since I first started working on Armenian issues in the 1990s, changes that have benefitted the Armenian people. But more needs to be done. I believe the four priorities I’ve identified will help the U.S. Government and people provide the people and government of Armenia with the tools and resources it needs to find Armenian solutions to the challenges it faces. We at the Embassy will be working to increase our bilateral business and trade ties,” the Ambassador said.

“We will be helping Armenians fight corruption. We will be partnering with Armenia to strengthen its democratic institutions and civil society. I promise a more robust engagement to explain the broad range of U.S. foreign policy goals. I invite you to judge the success of my ambassadorship by how strongly and faithfully we cleave to these goals,” Richard Mills concluded.

Pew poll: Israel most hated country in Turkey

November 3, 2014 By administrator

86% of responders have an unfavorable opinion of Israel, while only 2% view it positively; Turks also harbor a strong dislike to terror organizations – 80% dislike Hamas, 85% dislike Hezbollah.  report ynetnews

Israel is the country most hated by Turkish citizens, a Pew Research Center poll released last week found.

Responders were asked whether they have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of a selection of states (US, China, Brazil, Russia, Iran, Israel) and entities (such as the European Union and Nation).

Israel was found the most disliked country of the offered options, with 86 percent of responders saying they have an unfavorable opinion of Israel and only 2 percent seeing Israel in a positive light.

There is of course no reason to be surprised of the negative view Turks have of Israel. A diplomatic rift was opened between the two countries during the 2008-9 Operation Cast Lead. At the height of the still-ongoing conflict was the Israeli commando raid of the Turkish “Mavi Marmara” ship that was attempting to break the blockade on Gaza. The incident left 10 Turkish citizens dead.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan often attacks Israel, publicly accusing it of “genocide” of the Palestinians.

Still, it’s interesting to learn just how much the Turkish public dislikes Israel.

Other than having a favorable opinion of their own country (78 percent, according to a 2012 poll), the Turks don’t think highly of any of the countries or entities asked about.

The Turks have a lot opinion of the European Union (66 percent unfavorable opinion, 25 percent favorable), China (68 percent negative views, 21 percent positive), the United States (73 percent negative views and 19 percent positive), Russia (73 percent negative, 16 positive), Brazil (65 percent negative, 20 percent positive) and Iran (75 percent negative, 14 percent positive).

Saudi Arabia, however, another Sunni state, is the most liked of the countries asked about, but even then, only 26 percent of Turks have a favorable opinion of it, while 53 percent have an unfavorable opinion of it)
