Architects of Denial

Executive Producer Montel Williams announced at 2017 ANCA-WR Grassroots Conference.

Armenian Genocide documentary Architects of Denial qualifies for Academoy Awards.

“Armenian Genocide film Architects of Denial is one of 159 documentaries qualifying for Oscar consideration out of a pool of over 26,000 entries submitted,” its Executive Producer Montel Williams announced at 2017 ANCA-WR Grassroots Conference.

Architects of Denial is a first person account of genocide through the eyes of its survivors. Also included are several experts who graphically illustrate the real connection between its historical ‘denial’ with present day mass exterminations in conflict zones around the world.

This film warns that those responsible for genocides who are not brought to justice and confronted with the truth of their crimes, will only set the stage for more worldwide massacres in the future.

Dean Cain and Montel Williams are executive producers of the decumentary directed by David Lee George.

LA Time Review ‘Architects of Denial’ a powerful look at the Armenian genocide

October 6, 2017 By administrator

By Gary Goldstein,

The powerful documentary “Architects of Denial” posits that denying such world atrocities as the 1915-18 killings of about 1.2 million Christian Armenians by the Ottoman Empire, which became the modern republic of Turkey, results only in history repeating itself. Producer-director David Lee George persuasively backs up this theory by taking a frank look at the horrors of the Armenian genocide as well as the modern-day persecution of Armenians by forces in Turkey and its ally, Azerbaijan.

The movie also deftly places the systematic annihilation of Armenians within the context of latter-day genocides in such places as Sudan, Rwanda, Cambodia and Guatemala. Most dramatic, however, is the narrative’s chilling reminder of how a lack of accountability over the Armenian genocide led Adolf Hitler to believe that the world would also turn a blind eye to his “Final Solution.”

George combines a wide array of strong, if at times grisly, archival footage and photos with remarkable interviews with two centenarian survivors of the killings, plus moving commentary from many Armenians whose relatives perished in that first massacre and/or more recent conflicts across Azerbaijan.

Historians, academics, genocide experts, authors and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange also provide perspective about such issues as how the United States (taken to task here at great length), Britain and others, under political pressure from the Turkish government, which disputes that a genocide took place, officially avoid using the G-word to describe this historical reality.

Armenian Genocide movie “Architects of Denial” premiere draws a capacity crowd in DC

“Architects of Denial”

“Architects of Denial” – a powerful documentary film by Executive Producers Dean Cain and Montel Williams – drew a capacity crowd at its Washington, DC premiere, raising awareness about the Armenian Genocide among policy-makers and directly linking the denial of this crime to ongoing anti-Armenian discrimination and violence by both Turkey and Azerbaijan, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

The viewing, held at the historic U.S. Navy Memorial, was hosted by PrimoVision, Tanit Productions and the Montel Media Group, in conjunction with the ANCA, The Armenian Artsakh Fund and Hope for Children Today, and featured an introduction by ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian and presentations by Cain and Williams.

Among the Members of Congress participating in the event were Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) and Congressional Hellenic Caucus Co-Chair Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), who were joined by Notis Mitarachi, a visiting member of the Greek Parliament. Earlier in the day, Cain and Williams held a series of Congressional meetings across Capitol Hill. Ambassador of Armenia to the U.S. Grigor Hovhannisian, and Republic of Artsakh Representative to the U.S., Robert Avetisyan, were present, as was former U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Evans, who was featured prominently in the film.

“Architects of Denial forcefully challenges Ankara and its allies – on and off Capitol Hill – who dare to bully, bribe or barter America into silence on Turkey’s still unpunished genocide and exile of millions of Armenians and fellow Christians,” said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian. “We want to thank Dean Cain and Montel Williams for their remarkable leadership in producing this powerful film, and to express our special appreciation for all they are doing through the media, in Congressional meetings, and in so many different ways to raise awareness of this crime. As they said, so eloquently, this evening: ‘Genocide denied is genocide continued,’” concluded Hamparian.

Cain and Williams, who have differing views on a range of issues, explained why they came together to place a spotlight on the Armenian Genocide, the importance of international affirmation and justice. “A genocide forgotten or not even acknowledged is a genocide that continues, and is a seed for a new one,” explained Williams. Cain, who recently returned from a visit to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland with Rep. Abraham, noted that whether discussing the Holocaust or the Armenian Genocide, these are human rights issues which should never be politicized.

Both Cain and Williams described their recent trip to Armenia, where they were particularly moved by the plight of Syrian Armenian refugees, descendants of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide, who are now seeking safe haven in their historic homeland after fleeing regional strife.
