This is the terrifying moment a plane crash-landed at Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport as its landing gear snapped off amid heavy winds.

A rear section of the Flybe Dash 8 airliner broke off upon touchdown just before 4pm as winds of up to 80mph lashed Europe.

The video shows the landing gear grinding against the tarmac after collapsing as the plane impacted up the runway.

Passengers were evacuated from the plane and taken to the airport buildings by bus. No-one was is thought to have been hurt.

Another clip filmed by David after leaving the plane showed the force of the gales, with his voice inaudible above the howling winds.

Pictures posted on social media showed a rear section of the plane almost completely broken off.

Matt Lorenson, another passenger on flight BE1284, tweeted: “Just crash landed at #Amsterdam”.

He later added: “Everyone is ok. We’re away to get drunk. Great day to move to holland # 1stdayhere”.

A Flybe spokesman said: “Flybe can confirm that there has been an incident involving one of our aircraft, flight no BE1284.

“The aircraft departed from Edinburgh at 1410 local time bound for Amsterdam. The incident occurred at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at approximately 1659 local time.

“We can confirm that there are no injuries and all passengers have been bussed to the airport terminal. Our primary concern is for the welfare of the passengers and crew.”

“No people are injured. Flight operation is up and running again.”

Earlier today the airport tweeted footage of pilots fighting heavy winds to land. The post has since been deleted.
