Armenia retaliates against Azerbaijani aggression; 4 killed last night ten soldiers in two days

December 30, 2016 By administrator

Last night saw follow-on to Azerbaijan’s provocation on Thursday: the Armenian troops retaliated killing four Azerbaijani troops, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, Spokesman for Armenia’s defense office, wrote on his Facebook page.

“In fact, the enemy’s military gamble has claimed the life of more than ten soldiers in two days. Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has repeatedly confirmed that it has at its disposal undeniable facts of great losses suffered by Azerbaijan.”

The Collective Security Treaty Organization’s (CSTO) secretary general, Nikolay Bordyuzha, described the incident as a provocation in recent comments.

“The CSTO Secretariat is seriously concerned over the incident in the vicinities of the village Chinari. We treat those actions on the territory of a CSTO member state as provocation, especially against the background of the heavy incidents in Nagorno-Karabakh in April this year, which saw heavy weaponry used.

“The efforts by the two sides, as well as several other states, seemed to be conducive to an active process towards eventually settling the conflict.  But the recent reports from the region, particularly the December 29 incident that claimed servicemen’s lives, are a serious concern.

A village in Alberta is offering residential lots with an asking price almost anyone can afford: $10 or best offer.
Delia, Alta. – pop. 186 – is desperate to stop its population decline by enticing new residents who will build houses, pay property taxes and help populate its little school.
That’s why it’s offering lots in a subdivision that might have sold for tens of thousands of dollars for next to nothing.

Delia may be small, but it’s no ghost town. There is a library, an ice rink, credit unions and restaurants.
And there are big benefits to living in such a small place, according to Mayor Dawn Bancroft.
“Parents don’t have to worry about kids,” she said. “They can ride their bikes anywhere.”
“It’s a little bit slower paced and you can just sit back and relax,” she adds.
“The quality of life is just so good.”
Delia isn’t as isolated as some small towns and villages. It’s only a half-hour drive from Drumheller (pop. 8,000) and two hours by car from busy Calgary.

10,000 people attend Aznavour concert in Tel Aviv, and hoped to perform in the Palestinian territories someday soon.

November 26, 2013 By administrator

November 26, 2013 – 09:40 AMT

While only 10,000 Israelis were able to get tickets for Charles Aznavour’s concert at Tel Aviv’s Nokia Arena, which was sold 173123out well in advance, Aznavour himself was just as keen to meet a famous Israeli, The Jerusalem Press reports.

Long before his arrival in Israel, Aznavour’s people had been in touch with the office of President Shimon Peres with a request for a meeting between the president and the famous French singer. Peres, of course, acceded to Aznavour’s request, not just because of his fame or their shared history, but primarily because he is an avid Francophile who delights in all forms of French culture. His appetite for all things French had been whetted earlier last week by the amount of time in different venues and under different circumstances that he had spent with French President Francois Hollande. Peres went backstage to meet with Aznavour prior to the performance, which may have accounted for the reason that Aznavour was a little late in meeting with his audience. Aznavour, who at 89 (he turns 90 next May) is just a year younger than the president, complimented Peres on his appearance, his energy his efforts in the quest for peace. JPost says.

At a news conference at the Dan Hotel, where he was staying, Aznavour said he supported the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and he had hoped to perform in the Palestinian territories as well.

Though he has visited Israel previously, Aznavour, one of the most successful and prolific stage and recording artists in the world, had never before performed in Israel, and the fans, including Peres, who later took his seat in the audience, couldn’t wait to hear him. They were not disappointed. During a twohour concert, accompanied by an orchestra and back-up singers, the charismatic Aznavour sang a medley of his most famous songs, including “She,” which he performed together with Israeli singer Achinoam Nini (she in Hebrew, and he in French). The audience, including Peres, sang along, JPost says.

Aznavour, who has composed some 1,000 songs and sold more than 100 million records, was voted as “Entertainer of the Century” by CNN in 1998.
