UK, Saudi Arabia destabilizing Middle East: Cunningham

The United Kingdom is in cahoots with the Saudi regime in sowing sectarianism across the Middle East in order to destabilize the region, says an analyst.
“The ‘mutual interests’ shared by the House of Saud and the House of Windsor – as the figurehead of British imperialism – are the destabilization of entire countries through sectarianism and bloody conflict, which in turn fuel massive weapons sales,” Finian Cunningham wrote in a column for the Press TV website on Thursday.
Cunningham’s column provides a detailed analysis of last week’s visit to Riyadh by Britain’s Prince Charles.
He said Prince Charles mouthed about “reconciliation in the region” during his visit to Saudi Arabia, whose ruling Al Saud regime “has emerged as the primary sponsor of terrorism in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen and elsewhere.”
Cunningham drew a parallel between “the barbaric head-chopping practices of the Saudi rulers” and the practices of “the murderous British paratrooper regiment” headed by Prince Charles.
“That whitewashing service of the British monarchy will have been much appreciated by the Saudi despots – a service repaid by giving their final assent and boost to Britain’s strategic weapons trade,” wrote the analyst.
Prince Charles started his Middle East tour on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. The tour ended in Qatar on February 20.
In Riyadh, Prince Charles, donning traditional costume, performed a sword dance during the Jenadriyah culture festival.
“The Saudi and related Arab media also enthused about the British royal’s bonhomie and seemingly gracious indulgence of their culture. But the real, unspoken headlines should have read: ‘British prince serves as key arms dealer to Saudi terrorist regime’,” wrote Cunningham.
