Armenia produces fuel from old tires

June 18, 2016 By administrator

tires-renewYEREVAN. – Fuel production from the carbon powder of old tires is developing in Armenia.

Davit Karamyan, Deputy Director of Am-Eska company, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the company has recently agreed to accept worn-out tires from a mining raw material plant in the country.

In Karamyan’s words, the heat received from this fuel is higher than that of diesel fuel. It can be used as industrial fuel for ovens, greenhouses, etc., and together with fuel oil.

Following the most recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, when Azerbaijan had launched full-scale hostilities in early April, the company supplied fuel also to the army.

The company recycles these old tires as fibrous scrap metal and as technical carbon powder and fuel, but without waste.

Unlike in Western countries, the tire users in Armenia are not obligated to hand them over after use, and the tire collection facilities do not have to give them to recycling.

“We have proposed such an idea to the Ministry of Nature Protection,” added Davit Karamyan. “And perhaps a positive progress can be noticed by the year’s end.”
