Sadek al-Husseini, a senior Iraqi general, said that Abu Anas who was a former general in the regime of Saddam Hussein was killed during an operation in Baiji on Sunday, Fars News Agency reported.

“Joint security forces succeeded in killing one of the well-known leaders of the dissolved Ba’ath party, known as Abu Anas,” he said.

Abu Anas was one of the high-profile commanders of the ISIL terrorist group.

Back in April, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, Saddam Hussein’s Right-Hand Man and a senior commander of the ISIL Takfiri group, was killed during an operation by Iraqi popular forces in Salahuddin province in Iraq.

Additionally, the top war commander of the ISIL, Sheet Al-Samarrai who was called by the terrorist group as its war minister, was killed in an Iraqi airstrike on April 27 in Nineveh province.

On May 13, Abu Ala Afri, the successor of the Leader of the ISIL terrorist group Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed in an air raid in Nineveh province.

The Syrian army killed the so-called oil minster of the ISIL terrorist group along with 40 other militants in Deir Ezzur on May 16.

The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control shrinking swathes of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
