PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenia and Russia plan to create a training and education center for space research, National Security Council Secretary said.

As Artur Baghda saryan stated at the March 12 working meeting with the representatives of Roscosmos, a list of companies to manufacture the space agency-ordered products was formed.

Also, results of visits to Armenia’s state institutions, Byurakan observatory, Ahstarak-based Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics, as well as meetings with the heads of a number of enterprises were summarized.

At the meeting, Baghdasaryan stressed serious cooperation potential between Armenia and Roscosmos. The NSC Secretary thanked the latter for assistance in re-equipment of Byurakan observatory to be continued for the next 2 years to enable serious space research.

As he further stressed, the 2012-2013 Byurakan observatory modernization project implemented in he framework of cooperation between Russian Security Council and NSC proved effective and the experience could be used in modernization of other enterprises.

The meeting participants agreed that Armenia’s major scientific potential can be effectively used in the sectors of space research and development of industy in the relevant sector, Novosti-Armenia reported.

The Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, or Byurakan Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Armenian Academy of Sciences. It is located on the slope of Mount Aragats in the village of Byurakan in Armenia. Founded in 1946 by Viktor Hambardzumyan, it was one of the main astronomy centers of the USSR. Scientific researches of the observatory are related mainly with the instability phenomena in the Universe.
