October 11, 2015 By administrator

198741PanARMENIAN.Net – The construction of the building for a second Matenadaran was completed in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, set to open by the end of October, the project’s sponsor, chairman of Pyunik Pan-Armenian Human Resources Development Fund Gabriel Jambarji said.

Matenadaran is a repository of ancient manuscripts, research institute and museum in Yerevan, Armenia. It holds one of the world’s richest depositories of medieval manuscripts and books covering a broad range of subjects, including history, philosophy, medicine, literature, art history and cosmography in Armenian and many other languages.

The second Matenadaran will feature manuscripts created in Artsakh, in Gandzasar monastic complex in particular, which are currently stored in Yerevan-based repository.

Pyunik Foundation has allocated AMD 269 million for the construction of the building in Gandzasar and is ready to continue to the work of the Matenadaran, Jambarji said.
