Congressman Adam Schiff thanked Pope Francis for using “g-word” during the Holy Mass at the Vatican.
“Pontifex Thank you for acknowledging #ArmenianGenocide as first genocide of 20th Century. May your words inspire truth in others,” Schiff tweeted.
The first Genocide of the twentieth century was perpetrated against Armenians, Pope Francis said during a Mass in the Armenian Catholic rite in St. Peter’s Basilica to mark 100 years since the Armenian Genocide.
