A member of the political bloc Yelk on Saturday voiced alarm over a ‘deepening crisis’ in Armenia, calling for urgent efforts towards changing the general atmosphere.
At the bloc’s first public meeting in Yerevan, Sasun Mikaelyan (Civil Contract party) called attention particularly to such problems as crime rate, unemployment and emigration demography, pointing also to an economic stagnation.
“The country’s foreign debt has increased dramatically, which, sadly, isn’t the only problem at all. The Armenian people are changing beyond recognition … and beyond the scope of human understanding.”
“This is not a fatherland to lose; neither do we have time to lose. In case of a consensus, we will be ready for cooperation with all,” he said, calling for a united responsibility for the country’s future.
