Conductor: Karen Hakobyan
Pegasus at Mana: Orchestra Series welcomes Winter 2018 in a concert with some unusual and exciting arrangements: we will have TWO CONDUCTORS, a FOUR HAND PIANO DUO, a STRING ORCHESTRA, and an exceptionally INVENTIVE PROGRAM. First, Karen Hakobyan will conduct the strings in Edvard Grieg’s beloved Holberg Suite, whose Sarabande and Gavotte will encourage your feet to begin warming; next, the world renowned Duo Petrof, Anatoly Zatin and Vlada Vassilieva join him from sunlit Mexico to give us Kozeluch’s rarely played concerto for piano-four-hands. Later, the conductors will switch roles, and Anatoly Zatin will conduct Karen Hakobyan’s Fantasia “Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind” (a modern take on Shakespeare’s poem) with the composer at the piano; and finally, all hearts will thaw and beckon Spring with Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.
