Armenian basketball player Andre Speight Mkrtchyan was named the best player of 2016 FIBA European Championship For Small Countries, the country’s Basketball Federation said in a Facebook post.
Armenia’s national basketball team on Sunday, July 3 won the championship. With a score of 79:71, the men’s team defeated current champion Andorra in all the four quarters.
Armenians were participating in the tournament for the first time, with Mkrtchyan claiming the title of the best player of the match.
The country thus won the opportunity to participate in the qualifying campaign of the European Championship finals.
