Moscow does not hide the fact of its technico-military cooperation with Yerevan, and it calls on Baku to be understanding.

Maria Zakharova, official  representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated the aforementioned.

“We [i.e. Russia] already have informed the Azerbaijani side, through diplomatic sources, that Russia is linked to Armenia with allied relations, including, it develops technico-military cooperation,” Zakharova said at a briefing. “This is a fact known to all. We cooperate openly, freely, and we don’t hide it. We hope that they understand this fact in Azerbaijan.”

In her words, Russia considers all regional risks when supplying weapons.

“Any supply of arms to both Armenia and friendly Azerbaijan is carried out by taking into account the need to maintain balance in the region,” Maria Zakharova noted.

Terrorist State of Turkey Military expansion from Qatar to Mosul to Somalia

January 18, 2016 By administrator

851ccbda-3047-4e3b-b3ec-9f8353ca6b51Ankara has started to build a military base in Somalia to train soldiers from African countries to fight against al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabab militants, a report says.

In a Monday report, Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah cited military sources as saying that based on an agreement between the Turkish and Somali governments, over 1,500 Somali troops will be trained by 200 Turkish military officers at the base, being established in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

Emil Tekin, an official from the Turkish Foreign Ministry said last week that the “military training center will also be an important base to provide military training to all of Africa.”

Tekin added that the Turkish army is also planning to build a military school in Somalia to train officers.

Since 2006, Somalia has witnessed deadly clashes between government forces and al-Shabab militants, who say they aim to overthrow the government in the African state.

The militants have been pushed out of Mogadishu and other major cities in Somalia by government forces and the soldiers of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), which is largely made up of troops from Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Djibouti, Kenya and Sierra Leone.

Last month, Turkey announced plans to construct its first overseas military base in Qatar following an agreement signed between the two countries. The base is expected to accommodate 3,000 soldiers.

KRASNODAR (Arminfo News Agency) — The Javakhk Diaspora of Russia issued a statement openly calling on the population of Javakhk (Samtskhe- Javakhet- Tsalka region) to launch a signature collection for secession if the attempts to deploy a Turkish military base in the territory of Georgia are really made.

The Javakhk Diaspora of Russia issued the statement following the Georgian media report that mentioned these possible considerations of the deployment of a Turkish military base in Georgia are said to be discussed in an upcoming meeting of the defense ministers of Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.

“We call on the newly-elected government of Georgia to prevent the country’s involvement in the deliberate provocative conflicts, given that Turkey is going to do the bidding of its western and North- Atlantic patrons and to deliver another stab in the back of Russia, destabilizing the situation in the territory that directly affects the interests Russia’s security. In the given case, the interests of not only Russia but also neighboring Armenia are affected,” the statement says.

Turkey joins 34-state Islamic military alliance against terrorism announced by Saudi Arabia

December 15, 2015 By administrator

trc.thumbTurkey has joined a 34-state Islamic military alliance against terrorism whose formation was announced by Saudi Arabia on Dec. 14, according to a joint statement published by state news agency SPA.

“The countries here mentioned have decided on the formation of a military alliance led by Saudi Arabia to fight terrorism, with a joint operations centre based in Riyadh to coordinate and support military operations,” the statement said.

A long list of Arab countries such as Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, together with Islamic countries Malaysia, Pakistan and Gulf Arab and African states were mentioned.

The announcement cited “a duty to protect the Islamic nation from the evils of all terrorist groups and organizations whatever their sect and name which wreak death and corruption on earth and aim to terrorize the innocent.”

Shi’ite Muslim Iran, Sunni Saudi Arabia’s arch rival for influence in the Arab world, was absent from the states named as participants, as proxy conflicts between the two regional powers rage from Syria to Yemen.

The United States has been increasingly outspoken about its view that Gulf Arab states should do more to aid the military campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militant group based in Iraq and Syria.

In a rare press conference, 30-year-old deputy crown prince and Defence Minister Mohammed bin Salman told reporters on Dec. 15 that the campaign would “coordinate” efforts to fight terrorism in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt and Afghanistan, but offered few concrete indications of how military efforts might proceed.

“There will be international coordination with major powers and international organisations … in terms of operations in Syria and Iraq. We can’t undertake these operations without coordinating with legitimacy in this place and the international community,” bin Salman said without elaborating.

Asked if the new alliance would focus just on ISIL, bin Salman said it would confront not only that group but “any terrorist organisation that appears in front of us.”

Saudi Arabia and its Gulf Arab neighbours have been locked in nine months of warfare with Iran-allied rebels in neighbouring Yemen, launching hundreds of air strikes there.

Especially after a rash of attacks on Western targets claimed by ISIL in recent months, the United States has increasingly said it thinks that firepower would better be used against ISIL.

As a ceasefire is set to take hold in Yemen on Dec. 15 alongside United Nations-backed peace talks, Riyadh’s announcement may signal a desire to shift its attention back toward the conflicts north of its borders.

ISIL has pledged to overthrow the monarchies of the Gulf and have mounted a series of attacks on Shi’ite Muslim mosques and security forces in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Russia says has right to military response after jet downing

Russia has the right to make a military response after the downing of a Russian warplane earlier this week by NATO member Turkey, lower house speaker Sergei Naryshkin said on Friday.

Speaking in an interview with Romanian television station Digi24, Naryshkin, who spoke in Russian and was translated by the broadcaster, said: “This is intentional murder of our soldiers and this deed must be punished.”

The shooting down of the Russian warplane by the Turkish air force on Tuesday was one of the most serious clashes between a NATO member and Russia, and further complicated international efforts to battle Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants.

“We know those who did this and they must be judged. At the same time, the response from the Russian side will surely follow, in line with international law. And aside from this, Russia has also the right to military response,” added Naryshkin, who was attending a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Bucharest.

Naryshkin, who said economic measures against Turkey might be on the cards, said Moscow had allocated additional military resources on Thursday to boost the security of Russian warplanes.

“Even yesterday, military resources were allocated, (for) the S400 Triumph, which is the most advanced missile defence system, with the role to maintain flight safety of Russian planes, of our military and air forces whose task is to destroy terrorist infrastructure of the so-called ISIL and other organizations operating in Syria.”

World leaders have urged both sides to avoid escalation, and China’s Foreign Ministry added its voice to that on Friday.

On Thursday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was quoted as saying, Russia should apologise for violating Turkey’s airspace.

Breaking News: Russia Cuts All Military Ties With Turkey

November 26, 2015 By administrator

1030816242(sputniknews.com) All military contacts with Turkey have been cut following the downing of Russia’s Su-24 military jet, the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.

“Today, in accordance with a previously made decision, all cooperation channels have been cut between the Russian Defense Ministry and the Turkish Armed Forces,” ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters.

“This concerns all ties, not just the so-called hotline that was launched in order to avoid possible air incidents during the destruction of terrorist infrastructure in Syria,” he added.

The decision has been made after Turkish fighter jets on Tuesday had shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber, which had been taking part in Russia’s anti-terror campaign in Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described the incident as a “stab in the back, carried out against us by accomplices of terrorists.”

Azerbaijan shows symptoms of stress behavior amid military exercises in Armenia

September 7, 2015 By administrator

Aliyev-stressAs soon as the large-scale ‘Shant-2015’ strategic command and staff exercises came to a successful end in Armenia, Azerbaijan also urgently started its own military drills. Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement that war games are underway to check the fighting efficiency and combat readiness of all kinds of troops in the Azerbaijani army. Under the command of Azerbaijani defense minister Zakir Hasanov, the drills are being held by a scenario approved by Ilham Aliyev. The drills will last until September 13.

It is noteworthy that by official information, 65,000 troops, i.e. over half of the Azerbaijani armed forces are participating in the drills.
The question is: Who protects the borders if the majority of troops are involved in war games? Another remarkable fact is that Azerbaijan managed to involve only 6,000 servicemen of the reserve forces in the urgent military exercises.

President Ilham Aliyev, meanwhile, visited Ship Repair and Building Center of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service to take a look at a ship under construction, watched a film about patrol ships, and gave instructions.
