The UC Irvine School of Humanities’ Installment of Dr. Houri Berberian as Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in Armenian Studies was a historical event and momentous occasion and celebration. Supported by Vahe and Armine Meghrouni, the Meghrouni Family, and the local Armenian-American community, this event served as a capstone of nearly a decade of tireless work by many involved in this initiative since 2007.
The program speakers:
Dr. Vahe Meghrouni, primary benefactor of Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in Armenian Studies
Mrs. Sylvie Terzatkian, community volunteer leader for UCI Armenian Studies
Mrs. Alexis Meghrouni-Rivas, daughter of Vahe and Armine Meghrouni and member of UCI Armenian Studies community advisory group
Dr. Houri Berberian, Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in Armenian Studies and Director, UCI Armenian Studies
Dr. Touraj Daryaee, Maseeh Chair in Persian Studies & Culture and Director, Samuel Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture at UCI
“With the addition of Professor Houri Berberian, the future of Armenian Studies at UCI, a program that started with small course offerings and community lectures, has grown into an emerging field of study at the UCI School of Humanities,” says Georges Van Den Abbeele, UCI’s Dean of Humanities.
