Saudi ex-officer forms liberation movement for Arabian Peninsula

September 28, 2014 By administrator

PresstTV report

380239_King-AbdullahA former Saudi army officer has announced the formation of a movement aimed at unseating the Al Saud dynasty in Saudi Arabia.

In a video message, Dakheel al-Qahtani declared “the establishment of the Arabian Peninsula liberation movement,” noting that it “aims to begin a revolution in the Arabian Peninsula in order to topple the government of Al Saud…[and] to uproot their rule.”

He also called on the people in the kingdom to begin a popular uprising against the regime “for the sake of a nation destroyed by Al Saud corruption.”

Qahtani further denounced the Saudi regime’s “dirty” foreign policies which “are working against the interests of the nation.”

The ex-officer took to task the Saudi regime for its support of the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the finance of extremist Takfiri groups in Syria, noting that the Al Saud family supported the 2013 military-backed coup in Egypt which ousted former president, Mohamed Morsi.

“Al Saud does not represent the people of the Arabian Peninsula; they are the invaders and occupiers of our land,” he said.

The top posts in Saudi Arabia are in the hands of the first generation of the sons of Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the founder of the kingdom.

Saudis have no say in the appointment of the kingdom’s leadership, which has led to increased social and political discontent in the oil-rich country in recent years.

When Abdul Aziz rose to power in Saudi Arabia with help from the British monarchy in 1932, he named the country after the Al Saud family. He also entrusted the power to rule the country to his 31 children.

The ruling family has distributed all the key posts in the country among the deceased king’s brothers and their sons.

The country has been the scene of numerous anti-regime protests during the past several years, mainly in the Eastern Province, which have been crushed by security forces.

Armenian commanders, soldier always ready to defend homeland – Rafael Gzoyan

August 16, 2014 By administrator

In an interview with Tert.am, one of the Armenian commanders in the Arstakh liberation war, Major General Rafael (Felix) Gzoyan spoke of the situation commanderson the Line of Contact and of his view of a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

He also spoke of Armenia’s military potential and people’s willingness to defend their homeland.

“If a war breaks out, I will take anyone. If I go to war and they are not with me, I will force them regardless of whose sons they are,” Mr Gzoyan said.

“By escalating tension on the threshold of political meetings Azerbaijan aimed at escalating tension inside Armenia and demonstrating its influence not only on Armenia, but also on the international community, raising its troops’ morale. But all the attempts failed, because our armed forces are much more efficient and they have been able to thwart all the acts of sabotage by Azerbaijan. This is evidence that our commanders and soldiers are ready to win victory in any military operations. And this small victory inspires our freedom-fighters and young people. I am sure that they are willing to defend the homeland if a war breaks out.”

As regards the probability of war, Mr Gzoyan said:

“I do not think long-lasting peace will be established after the Sochi meeting, so we must be ready to rebuff the enemy. I cannot say how long the ceasefire will be. Our priority task is to improve our troops’ morale and efficiency.”

Karabakh: July 23 marks 21st anniv. of Aghdam (Akna) liberation

July 24, 2014 By administrator

Liberation of Shushi in 1992 decreased but didn’t eliminate the threat to the towns of Nagorno Karabakh Republic. Azerbaijani military-political leadership viewed its air force and heavy artillery as means of Aghdamintimidating the Armenian population, rather than fulfillment of fire support tasks.

After the Shushi liberation, Azeri military leadership transported most artillery to Agdam province, with the enemy group posing constant danger to Martakert and Martuni defensive provinces of the NKR.

All the surrounding settlements including Stepanakert were shelled from Agdam; Armenian villages of Askeran, Martakert and Martuni provinces were destroyed, with Askeran almost entirely ravaged by Azeri artillery.

Hence, seizure of Agdam and suppression of firing points became a vital necessity. On July 23, Artsakh forces launched an offensive on both sides and seized the town, forcing out the Azeris.

“The population didn’t want us to defend them. They all fled the town,” an Azeri officer recollected.

Agdam liberation ensured Askeran civilians’ security. Moreover, the operation eliminated the threat to systematic shelling of NKR capital, as well as attacks against Askeran and neighboring provinces.

In November of 2010, the NKR government ruled to rename the town of Agdam to Akna, with a status of a province. Akna, which currently has a population of 360, may in future regain the status of an independent settlement.

Karvachar marks 21st anniversary of liberation

April 3, 2014 By administrator

PanARMENIAN.Net – The town of Karvachar (previously Kelbajar) marks the 21st anniversary of liberation.

177608Armenian armed forces set to liberate Kelbajar on March 27, 1993. By March 27, the town was besieged, with Armenian forces taking the regional center within three days.

The local population was partly evacuated by helicopters; others left the town by mountain passes. Kelbajar was a key strategic point for Armenia, and its liberation provided for a strong link between Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic; the front line was significantly cut, and Martakert region’s rear was secured.

Liberation of Karvachar was vitally important to provide for security of northern and north-eastern borders of Armenia and Artsakh.

Liberation of Martakert, as well as security of Vardenis was impossible without prior control taken over Karvachar.

Only competent efforts of Armenian armed forces managed to free Karvachar from the enemy, with both Vardenis and Martakert saved.
Samvel Babayan, Karabakh self-defense army commander later said: “We started preparing for the military operation in Lachin and Kelbajar back in winter. Though talks were underway with Azerbaijan, we knew that the enemy is just playing for time in preparation for a decisive blow. We turned out to be right; the negotiations failed.

Azerbaijan focused its army in northern parts of Martakert and Askeran regions, consolidating over 5000 soldiers, as well as tanks and heavy artillery there. Fighting started in late January; we faced 12 days of non-stop hostilities. We reached the set goal, namely the liberation of Martakert heights, by 90 per cent.”

Factually, Karvachar operation became a turning point in the Artsakh war. Being a huge strategic hub, it dominates over Northern Artsakh, providing control up to Gandzak, another strategic communication point in Caucasus.

The Karvachar operation changed the military and political situation significantly, the strategic initiative finally transferred to Artsakh, a fact the international community and superpowers could not but realize.
Karvachar features many ancient Armenian monuments saved from the Azeri destruction. One of them is Dadivank, a masterpiece of Karabakh’s Armenian architecture named after Dadi, a pupil of Thaddeus the apostle who introduced Christianity into Armenia.

He is said to have founded the monastery in late 1st century. Most part of the monastery dates back to 12-13th centuries. Dadivank currently is being restored.

Today, 21 years after the liberation, Karvachar is reborn: roads are being repaired, new schools and kindergartens built, new families created. The town lives a peaceful life, yet ready at every point to take up arms to protect their lands.
