Armenian MP calls on PACE to denounce Turkey

April 8, 2014 By administrator

Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group member Arpine Hovhannisyan addressed the events in Syria’s Kessab in her speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of paceEurope (PACE).

Addressing the major issue, Ms Hovhannisyan dwelt on Turkey’s role in the events. She mentioned the concept of “state sponsors of terrorism” created by US partners. This expression describes Turkey’s nature very well. Turkey is nearing the date marking the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The Kessab Armenians narrowly escaped genocide.

Surely, Turkey pursued other goals as well. To achieve them, Turkey turned to terrorists and even supported them. The recently leaked records of meetings of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization have proved that the country’s security services planned an attack on the Tomb of Suleyman Shah for Turkey to intervene militarily inside Syria. Like in the aforementioned case, Turkey intended to seek support of extremist networks.

As to what PACE should do to protect European values, Ms Hovhannisyan asked PACE if it is ready to call one of its members to account. European must stop pretending that nothing has ever happened.

The Armenian MP called for denouncing and preventing such actions with a view to ensuring an age when crimes against humanity will never be committed.

Supported by NATO, a second Turkish Genocide against Armenians held in Syria

USA Armenian Life No 1410

In an article on March 31 titled “Armenians are awakening to the truth: Turkey and NATO are behind the ethnic cleansing in Latakia and Kessab” Christof nsnbc.com Lehman wrote that “Turkey has regularly facilitated the arton98788-480x270entry terrorist groups in the region Kessab Syrian province of Latakia. A member of the Armenian parliament who visited Syria made a call to the world to become aware of the fact that thousands of extremists have crossed the Turkish-Syrian border and that missiles were fired on the Turkish side of the border. Armenians, who have long considered NATO as an ally and partner realize that the war in Syria, the new ethnic cleansing of Armenian Christians in Syria including part of a long-term strategy of NATO. ”

Mr. Lehman also reported: “The Turkish Parliament Mehmet Ali Ediboglu, visited the border post Yayladagi after severe clashes that occurred in the region on March 21. Ediboglu stated that the Turkish army authorizes and controls the movement of insurgents who come and go across the border with Syria in both directions. After a Turkish F-16s have shot down a Syrian fighter over Kessab last week nsnbc.com spoke with an eyewitness to Kessab, who reported the presence of the Turkish special forces on Syrian territory in cooperation with terrorist brigades supported by the Turks. ”

Residents in Kessab call all Armenians and all humanity to realize that the Erdogan government is behind the military campaign, ethnic cleansing and massacres. Armenian parliamentary Arman Sahakian and residents Kessab call upon the UN and the governments of other countries to take measures to protect the population of the province of Latakia before it is too late.

In an emotional message transmitted by the Armenian Parliament, the people of Kessab made the call: “All we want is to live. If you do nothing, the terrorists will get us all suffer a horrible death, they will kill us in cold blood like many other Armenians in Aleppo, Yaakoubiyeh, Ghnaymiyeh and throughout Syria. Those you call … “rebels” are extremists from engaging in jihad with Syria among them many nationalities such as Afghans, Chechens, Saudis, etc.. The people of Kessab and throughout Syria have seen and have been attacked and killed by them. The media can not hide the truth forever. We can not play forever with people’s lives. Those you call “rebels” took targeting civilians and attacked. Wake up please. ”

Mr. Lehman said: “The Armenians, who have long regarded as a NATO ally and partner, realize the harsh reality that influential member states of NATO, including Turkey, the USA, the United Kingdom and France, are responsible for having designed this war in Syria, planned long before the first signs of 2011 … The city of Kessab is now in the hands of foreign fighters. The Syrian Arab Army launched a military campaign to dislodge the mercenaries, which is complicated by the presence of Turkish F-16 fighters over the area and the Turkish special forces fighting alongside foreign fighters and leading their artillery, missiles and tanks against the positions of the Syrian army. ”

He concluded: “The U.S. State Department said he was worried about the population of Kessab Latakia in Syria and everywhere where people suffer from violence. At the same time, the U.S. supply-air missiles and anti-tank insurgents and holds a common structure with intelligence and command squads of mercenaries. ”

“I want the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar as totally responsible for atrocities against Christians and Armenians in Syria, because they are the ones that cause, arm and support the so-called ‘rebels’. The civilized world must reject the killers acting under the guise of regime change to impose their radical power in Syria. The Syrian people deserve a democratic government; I fear, however, that the foreign fighters who have infiltrated Syria are much more barbarous than the Assad regime. I think that regime change should result in peaceful negotiations, not by beheadings and suicide bombings “Harut Sassounian said today, publisher of the California Courier in a written statement published in a Turkish newspaper.

Far from repenting for the Armenian Genocide, Turkey, under the leadership of Prime Minister Erdogan, takes more time to target Armenians, once again causing their death and displacement wrote frontpagemag.com.

“Armenians must once again go into exile because of the Turkish government, like their ancestors who fled the Armenian Genocide there for decades. No mention was made on the BBC support that NATO openly of Al-Qaeda groups. The attack took place in the wake of mass protests against Prime Minister Erdogan, who recently banned Twitter, wrote Mimi Al Laham Land Destroyer Report.

“The Armenian Christians fleeing again aggression Turkey and the silence of Western, quick to denounce the violations of international law by the Russian Federation, is not surprising. Certainly, the NATO member Turkey is allowed to occupy Northern Cyprus, hunting Orthodox Christians and settle on the conquered lands; to enter into northern Iraq to attack the Kurds when it suits the elites in Ankara; Turkey and NATO is authorized to be a basis for international jihadists and an area for supplying arms to terrorists, cult members and mercenaries fighting against the Syrian government. Recently undertaken by Turkey in the ethnic cleansing of Christian Armenians in northern Syria appears as a long continuation of past misdeeds, “recently wrote Ramazan Khalidov and Lee Jay Walker Modern Tokyo Times.

Towards the end of 2012, when the foreign ministers of NATO gave their green light for the deployment of Patriot surface to air missiles in Turkey under the pretext of “protecting against spillage of civil war in Syria neighbor “, they probably knew that the invasion of Kessab Turkey was imminent – awaiting only the right time. There is no doubt that Turkey is inseparable from the pure and simple conspiracy against Syria. Missiles were transported latest technology in Turkey, on the border with Syria. There would also be some reports on coordination of rebel organizations who fought the Syrian government and from Turkey and other countries in the region “has recently emphasized Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of Pan-African Newswire.

From NATO, which joined Turkey in the early 1950s, this is a deliberate policy. USA, who founded NATO and coordinating its activities widely, lobbied all members [NATO] to adopt a hostile attitude against Syria. If opposed to the war forces had not manifested to his international community, war against Syria would have gone much further, said Azikiwe.

According to information published in www.lragir.am March 29, Turkey paid 5,000 dollars for every Armenian killed in Syria. An Armenian survivor of Syria said: “Turkey conducts Aleppo everything that contributes to a second genocide. One day I went to Aleppo, accompanied by another person, in order to look for food and fuel. We were warned that it had to do with self identity documents of Christian Arabs and Muslim Arabs. We found a Christian Arab who looked vaguely, and I took her identity. Our car was stopped and checked several times by the rebels on the road to villages around Aleppo. They asked me if there were soldiers in the vehicle or the Armenians. We of course said there was none. As they asked us several times we asked them why. One of the rebels said that Turkey had promised to pay 1000 dollars for every soldier of the Syrian army killed and 5,000 dollars for each shot Armenia “.

This survivor Armenian Syria continued: “Armenian district is being targeted by snipers … The rebels seek Armenian districts. That maintaining hope is the fact that the Armenians remained united regardless of their affiliation to face these difficult times. Armenians abroad send money and food … Half of Aleppo Armenians fled the country … hoping to return when all this is over. Most of them prefer to stay, considering themselves at home in Syria, and will not abandon their homes no matter what. ”

Dissatisfied with the results obtained by the undisclosed policy of Turkey to sow death and destruction in Syria, NATO and its allies, especially Turkey, released their “projects” for the Syrian people in general, and more recently Specifically, for the Armenians of Syria.

It is now a fact that Kessab, one of the last medieval Armenian cities of the Mediterranean, is illegally occupied by Turkish agents in Syria.

Whatever denials Ankara, those of the first Ottoman Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and his whimsical Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, evidence abounds. We are no longer in the years 1915-1923. There are now a variety of means of communication and electronic documentation. The Erdogan government has de facto subjected Turkey to a recent wave of civil lawsuits arising from acts of violence and crimes against humanity committed by terrorists came from a Turkish border.

Through unity of Armenians in Syria, thanks to their self-defense squads and their neighborhood well organized districts of Aleppo – Nor Kyugh (in Armenian, New Village), Suleymanié, Vilaner Sheik Taha and where they lived alongside Arab and Muslims as Christians, are still protected from the intrusion of foreign terrorists making the area a modern arena for the success of the Pan-Arab Nationalism Syrian.

From what we know about what happens to Kessab, however, no self-defense mechanism was established there. Nobody is informed. Some observers believe that the leaders of Syria and Kessab might think that the Armenian city could be an exception. Why do they think that? Armenians and other Syrians Kessab could serve as an example for Arab nationalist districts Syrian invincible other districts.

Many Armenian activists think in a sense, the debacle and disaster Kessab awakened minds of Armenians in the world and the U.S. in particular. With the power of Prime Minister Erdogan attracted by the Muslim Brotherhood, the invasion by proxy Kessab has already angered a large fraction of the international community.

It should be noted that while most Americans expressed strongly suggests that the U.S. should honor its obligations to defend its NATO allies for a possible Russian threat, it is unlikely they say some particular nations in NATO worth fighting, according to a recent survey (end of March) Huffington Post / You Gov. The study shows that only 20 to 29 percent are favorable to the defense of Turkey. It’s embarrassing for the neoconservatives going to war and the friends of Turks in Washington.

Kessab but will not be released by the mere sympathy. It will take determination and sacrifice on the part of all affected parties, especially the Armenians of the world. Demonstrations and petitions can help release the Armenian town of Kessab (Kasab) if they are not accompanied by concerted effort. It is high time that the Armenians joined the action to the word by sending funds as they are concerned.

How Armenians, transnational community can they convince the U.S. State Department, and that going to war as Adam Schiff Representative of the 28th District of California are sincere in their ‘conviction’ of the barbarity of Turks Kessab when in fact secretly under wraps, they finance, arm and train Islamic terrorists in Turkey and facilitate their invasion of Syria via Turkey?

Armenians should not underestimate their transnational status resigning himself to the role of protest or making only react; they must instead emerge as a proactive force to be reckoned with. It is time that the Armenians take a more decisive for the effective defense of their similar today Kessab political role; and perhaps elsewhere tomorrow. No Armenian should be delivered only to his fate. It is time that the Armenians taking on board and apply the rallying cry – ‘all for one, one for all.

Whatever the force that is attacking Armenians should be held responsible priori. They should not stick to the punishment of crimes once they are committed. They should identify the perpetrators before they commit another crime against humanity. Do you remember those who voted yes and who said no during the Artsakh war?

When the Syrian crisis erupted and escalated into a truly international terrorist invasion four years ago, not a single Armenian organization is recognized for providing one day Kessab be the target of a replica of the genocidal policy of the Turkish state.

Demonstration held in Tbilisi to support Kessab Armenians

April 7, 2014 By administrator

April 07, 2014 | 11:15

203021A requiem service in memory of the victims of Syria’s war was conducted Sunday in Surb Etchmiadzin Church of Tbilisi, Georgia.

Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanian, Primate of the Diocese of the ArmenianApostolicChurch in Georgia, attended the mourning ceremony.

Subsequently, the initiative of the “Hayartun” Center at the Diocese of the ArmenianApostolicChurch in Georgia, the Assembly of Tbilisi Armenians, and the Armenian Community of Georgia, and a group of Armenians accompanied by Father Manuk Zeynalyan headed to the United Nations Office in Georgia.

The protestors, holding banners and the national flags of Armenia and Georgia, demanded to end the violence against the Syrian civilians and bring Turkey to justice for providing support to Islamist groups attacking the peaceful city of Kessab and surrounding areas.

The peaceful demonstrators passed Chavchavazde Avenue and headed to the Turkish Embassy. They waved banners in different languages saying “Save Kessab!”, “Stop crime against Kessab!”; the protestors also demanded from Turkey to stop its genocidal policy towards the Armenians.

By and large, more than 250 people participated in the demonstration.

Let us recall, that on March 21, terrorist groups opposing the Syrian government entered Armenian-inhabited city of Kessab from Turkey.

The Armenian NGOs in Georgia issued the below appeal to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, which is signed by the Armenian NGOs in Georgia:

“To United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

“Mr. Ban Ki-moon,

“According to various sources the civil war in Syria has now killed more than 100,000 people, including loss of civilian life. Since the beginning of the so called Syrian Crisis it has been reported that in addition to Syrian citizens the foreign citizens, members of radical Islamist groups including those that are recognized by the majority of UN member states, as a terrorist organizations, oppose the country’s government.

“On 21 March 2014 various terrorist groups and bandit formations entered the town of Kessab and surrounding areas. As a result of the armed attack more that 2000 Kessab town residents, the vast majority of whom are the Syrian citizens of Armenian origin, who less than 100 years ago found shelter in this town during the 1915-23 Armenian Genocide, carried out by the Turkish government against Armenians, were forced to leave their homes and belongings and seek refuge in other Syrian settlements. After Islamist militants took over the Syrian town of Kessab they committed numerous acts of vandalism, destroying and looting Christian religious buildings and institutions, private and civil institutions (schools, hospitals, retail facilities etc.).

“It must be recalled that the first implemented by the Turkish armed units massacre in Kessab took place in 1909, while during the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide, implemented by the Turkish government, 5000 Armenians were murdered in Kessab.

“The fact that armed terrorists entered Kessab from Turkey causes sincere indignation. The fact that Turkey allowed armed militants to cross freely the state border with Syria, as well as many records spread by radical Islamist groups, indicate that the TurkishRepublic provided full support to militants invading peaceful town like Kessab. Basing on spread by mass media records of confidential conversation of Turkish top leaders, as well as a statement issued by the Turkish Prime Minister and many other materials it is confirmed that apart from technical support Turkey has provided political support to a variety of terrorist groups.

“We, the undersigned Armenian NGOs in Georgia urge you:

“• to pay close attention to total violation of fundamental human rights and gross violations of international humanitarian law, taking place during the intervention of the Islamist groups in Syria;

“• to examine the evidence on Turkey providing technical and political support to Islamist groups attacking the peaceful city of Kessab;

“• to give a legal opinion on Turkey’s actions and bring Turkey to justice for its genocidal policy towards the Armenian civilians population of Syria.

Kessab Shushi even fight …? By Haytoug Chamlian (Opinion)

April 5, 2014 By administrator

The fall of the city Kessab, the borders of present-day Syria and Cilicia our – your point of view – has Armenians around the world in shock.

arton98768-100x67Lack of information – or sufficiently reliable – it is unrealistic to try to understand what is really happening now.

One particular is certain: when we write these lines, the city is still in the hands of jihadists from various sources, which have in this spectacular operation of the immediate support of Turkey.

We all have done our duty, and we will continue to do so to support Kessab and its Armenian population. As far as it can, given the circumstances. Indeed, in this case, we are particularly … derogatory field, and this time not only in Western Diaspora, but even in the Middle East. As for Armenia and Artsakh, they demonstrated a concern in this matter, a spirit and a remarkable solidarity, real commitment and unwavering, as part of the logic of everything they do and already perform effectively and diligently to support the Armenians of Syria and assist, and since the beginning of hostilities in the country.

That being said – and done – it should address this issue from another perspective.

All told, we, Armenians, failed to Kessab? Should we have to defend ourselves the ultimate end of Cilicia, a pan-Armenian fighter mobilization?

The analogy would be applicable in this regard that constituted the initial and crucial phase of the war of liberation of Artsakh, culminating with the victory of Shushi. Without which, the Armenian region could not be released (subject to adjustment).

So Kessab Shushi and even fight? At least at the stage in the short term, if not, for the moment, a final goal …

On the ideological level, the argument is certainly valid. However, he can not resist the elementary test of reality and facts.

Today, unlike other bygone eras, the Diaspora does not have “combat forces.”

When jihadists attacked Kessab with the logistical support of Turkey, the Armenian Diaspora was quite simply incapable of conducting an armed struggle with the Armenians of Syria first. As this was done, mutatis mutandis, in Artsakh to Shouchi.

Regarding specifically the potential for armed struggle of the Armenians of Syria itself, it should be noted that it had been eradicated long ago, compliments of the predecessors of the current Assad regime, and by means of unprecedented ferocity.

As for the argument of armed intervention from Armenia / Artsakh, it is also within the superficial romanticism. In fact, there are more fighters in Armenia and Artsakh – God thank you -. There are soldiers. There is a national army. Consequently, the intervention of military Armenians Kessab to fight alongside the Syrian army and against supported by laTurquie strengths, all against a backdrop of serious clashes continuing on the fronts of Artsakh and North Armenia is the same, and in a context of extreme exacerbation of the so-called cold war on the Ukrainian front … this is an unthinkable scenario.

But returning to the Diaspora, provided it does not have the means to wage armed struggle to Kessab, ought she not then hold at least adequate, dignified and orderly evacuation of the city? Now, all we heard about it rather indicates a state of total confusion in this respect also, between the approximate panic and stampede can improvised, including having the effect of leaving the most vulnerable elements of e thank you to the people of the invaders. Thus, two mamigs have even found suddenly in Turkey! And we dare not speak of surprise, grace, this event was certainly predictable, even highly probable, for two years.

But it is not finished yet, alas … Not only the Diaspora was unable to protect Armenians Kessab, it not only has not even been able to organize their escape, but to top it all, this day again, the slogan of a certain FRA remains in force, urging Armenians from Syria to stay in Syria …

This posture is not only despicable because of the utter helplessness of the same party to ensure the safety of our fellow concerned, but also constitutes a flagrant violation of the fundamental ideology of the program more than a century, the very soul of the party, given at the same time it asks Armenians remain die in Syria (for what, for whom, exactly? …), the Motherland, she opens its arms to welcome these Armenians, their physical survival, and provide at least some future.

At this stage of this process, it should be emphasized as the grave responsibility of Bashar El Assad in the current situation Kessab. Because it is not limited to the above-mentioned fact that the system which is the successor in every sense of the term was responsible … to “settle down” seriously Armenians of Syria.

Not to give too much grist to the mill of those who has now become a common enemy of the Armenians, and other Shiite Alawites, recall quickly or furtively, the following only a few realities:

- in terms of the common enemy, precisely, it was not always so far away …;

- it is the Syrian regime in question which had a cross (if we may say …) on the Sanjak of Alexandretta, and in doing so had largely diminished any importance Kessab at certain aspirations of restitution. ..; while encouraging at the same time, the expansionism of Ankara, on behalf of the “territorial integrity” of “his” Sandzak. Which is also reminiscent of postures – and Sneeze – a Aliev towards Artsakh …

- Assad father and son have also ensured systematic “dilution” of the original population Kessab; in 1974 already when Kessab was then a large village surrounded by small villages and this whole area was exclusively populated by Armenians, arriving there for the first time, the undersigned, teenager, was shocked to see, above all, a huge mosque knowingly derived from the main entrance to the town …; thereafter, necessarily led by the leaders of Damascus, Armenians have gradually given way to no longer represent a proportion – in the process of continual erosion again – not only the population but even landowners places.

For good measure, also have the courage to mention some responsibility for our own. Because there was physical abandonment Kessab, by emigration continues at all times; full Pax Syriana same, well before the beginning of any index changes. In addition, there was also a tendency to have a little too hastily property and ancestral land to non-Armenians. (Sorry for this exception to the internal “political correctness”, but here we compare Kessab to Shushi, nothing less, and it would have been unfair to our fellow Artsakh not meet this significant difference also between the two situations While recalling … what kind and how much adversity they have faced, especially during the long period of domination Azeri, and with means of resistance ridiculous …)

In light of all the observations described above, it is therefore clear that the only action we can take today to save Kessab is strictly political.

However, if this is an obligation of means to which we can not escape us, we must not delude ourselves, in terms of results. On the one hand, because in an armed conflict of this nature and magnitude, policy approaches are all empty cases, and more, when limited in nicely “citizen”. On the other hand, because that for most countries in the Diaspora Armenians knocking at the wrong door … In this case, one of the very ones who opened and held the door that came cheerfully invaders Kessab …

Unless with the consent of Bashar Al Assad, the area is destined to become a “buffer zone”, Kessab can still be released. Finally … To return for the moment, Syria. .. However, given the global mobilization of the Armenians – especially in the West – prepared in an unusually united and coordinated impetus to come to the aid of Kessab Bashar Assad might even be tempted to take his time before possibly back the intruders from Turkey … History make the most of the effects of this “lobby” international unexpected, in countries where itself can never set foot.

Ultimately, as in the case of Artsakh, the fate of Kessab depends ultimately the course of the titanic conflict between the West and the East. And more specifically, plans Vladimir Putin.

And this is where, ultimately, the only real commonality between Kessab and Shushi: the ultimate fate of the Armenian lands depends on the current regime in Moscow. And not just the land, besides …

This puts us, citizens of Western states in a highly problematic situation. To say the least.

CSTO Foreign Ministers issue statement on Kessab events

April 4, 2014 By administrator

April 4, 2014 – 12:55 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – At their meeting in Moscow on Thursday, April 3, the foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) voiced deep concern over the dramatic deterioration of the situation in the 177648northwest of Syria after clashes between government troops and al-Qaeda-linked extremist groups, which resulted in the loss of life and forced relocation of thousands of people from the Armenian-populated city of Kessab, ITAR-TASS reported.

“We strongly condemn the acts of terror and the use of force against the peaceful population,” the ministers said in a statement. “We call for stopping the violence as soon as possible and ensuring the safe return of refugees. We are convinced that the situation can be normalised only by excluding external interference and violence and by conducting a broad political dialogue that will take into account the interests of all Syrians regardless of their ethnic or religious background,” the document said.

The ministers urged all parties interested and concerned to act in strict compliance with international law in order to stop the bloodshed and achieve a political settlement in Syria in accordance with the Geneva communique of June 30, 2012.

Located in the northwestern corner of Syria, near the border with Turkey, Kessab had, until very recently, evaded major battles in the Syrian conflict. The local Armenian population had increased in recently years with the city serving as safe-haven for those fleeing from the war-torn cities of Yacubiye, Rakka and Aleppo. On the morning of March 21 extremist foreign fighters launched a vicious attack on Kessab civilians, forcing them to flee neighboring Latakia and Bassit. There are approximately 60 families living in refuge in the Armenian Apostolic Church in Latakia, sleeping wherever there is space in the facility.

Expert: Davutoglu’s statement is manifestation of cynicism

April 4, 2014 By administrator

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s statement that Turkey is prepared to help Armenians of Kessab is a manifestation of cynicism, Turkish studies expert Ruben Melkonyan told reporters in Yerevan.

Melkonian on KessabAccording to the expert, the internationally stipulated rights of Kessab Armenians were violated and the Armenian community of Kessab was deprived of elementary means of living.

“The life of Armenian community is in danger and it will be difficult for them to return and continue living in their community,” Melkonyan said.

“The population of Kessab was deported, which, according to the UN Convention, is considered as a genocidal act,” he stressed.

First Kessab Refugees Arrive in Armenia

April 4, 2014 By administrator

YEREVAN (RFE/RL)—The first two residents of Kessab have taken refuge in Armenia and many others are said to be willing to do the same nearly two weeks after the historically Armenian-populated town in Syria was seized kessab-armenians-armeniaby Islamist rebels.Stepan Sularian and his wife Vartine were among about 2,000 Kessab Armenians, the town’s virtually entire population, who fled their homes in the face of advancing rebel forces, among them members of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front. The couple crossed into neighboring Lebanon before flying to Armenia.

“We don’t know what they [the rebels] would have done to us if we had stayed in Kessab,” Sularian told reporters in Yerevan on Thursday.

The town mayor, Vasken Chaparian, confirmed earlier this week that none of the Kessab Armenians is known have been killed or wounded. Most of them are currently staying in Latakia, a provincial capital 60 kilometers south of Kessab which remains under Syrian government control.

In Sularian’s words, many of them would like to migrate to Armenia but lack money for travel expenses or fear that they will have trouble finding jobs in their ancestral homeland. “That’s what holds other people back,” explained the middle-aged man.

“Now I have come to Armenia. If I don’t get a job, how am I going to get by?” Sularian said, adding that most Kessab Armenians will readily return to their homes if Syrian government troops regain control of the town close to the Syrian-Turkish border.

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian condemned “the use of force” against them in a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon sent last Friday. Nalbandian urged the international community to “ensure the safety and security of displaced people, including the Armenians, facilitate conditions for their early, safe and dignified return to their places of residence and provide indispensable humanitarian assistance to address their urgent needs.”

The situation in and around Kessab was on the agenda of a weekly session of Armenia’s government held on Thursday. Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobian said that the Armenian diplomatic missions in Syria are keeping in touch with the local community and assessing its needs. She accused the rebels of desecrating Armenian churches and looting homes in Kessab.

Hakobian also said that representatives of various Armenian government agencies met on Wednesday to discuss ways of helping the Kessab Armenians. “If Kessab Armenians and other Syrian citizens decide to come to the [ancestral] home, all our structures and organizations will be ready to assist them,” she said.

About 10,000 ethnic Armenians from Syria have already taken refuge in Armenia since the outbreak of the bloody conflict in the Middle Eastern state two years ago. Most of them are struggling to make ends meet.

We called Stalin, because this bearded man was speaking in Arabic, did not understand. Stalin said, the man goes to Latakiya tomorrow you will take the side of the Armenians. The next day at 7 am As the man came to take us away. ‘re In the car. I closed the door of the house, I locked my key and then drove the man.

Why did you give the key?

After we are gone if I did not kick in the door would enter. “It’s all yours, you remain healthy in my house,” I said. He did not say, put the key in his pocket and shook his head. Then brought us to the border with Turkey. Asked the man, “You’re taking us to Turkey? We were going to Latakiya behold “I said. He did not answer. Our goods vehicles, did not treat us badly. After the border crossing us of the great man (Yayladag Governor) took us, took our fingerprints drew our pictures. See our blood pressure and they took our passports, said they would give us back when we return. We signed the paper, and then brought us to Vakıflı.

Why did not you go to Latakiya you like everyone else?

Departures car went by. The remaining few people went by boat from the Karaduran. We did not catch them. My sister can not walk, we prepare our stuff instead of collecting till there was no one.

Your friend why Stalin had?

Because I was older and “I will not go, if I die, I will die here,” he said.

So many men would attack the village Did you know?

Erdogan said no but open road. “The bad guys come here,” they said. Erdogan If you kept your ways, and Karaduran Kesab would not have so many bad guys. This bearded man came from Turkey.

Deceased, who was killed Was?

Yet, because everyone was gone. There was no man to kill. We were, were not mistreated at us. Helped. For example, in our house, but the yeast did not have flour, bread could not do the last few days. When the bearded man, “Do you have food?” He asked. “Ye have food, no bread,” we said. Sent us bread. Turkish bread that was talking.

Did they hurt the village?

My uncle’s son, the apple orchard tractor to drugs drug store had prepared. I went to the house looked, took the tractor, the store also doused each side was mud. We had prepared apple cider vinegar in a large barrel, doused him; There was a barrel of diesel has cast him, they took. Chicken was set, I released them, so that they can stay open bait took. They had all entered the houses, the houses were broken door window, entered the village had no smoking house. People had put into their engines, but the way they get kick down doors. They went by car, but stood tractors. They are using them now.

Do you think Kesab return to?

Karaduran can not go there because they’re fighting. Latakiya us to you, the next you send outgoing Kesab, we go. If you might want to go to Beirut. Our sister and brother got there.

What do you think about coming to Turkey?

We were supposed to go somewhere, because now there was no one there. If we eat a morsel of bread you in this world, it will eat you.

Are you afraid of here?

We are not afraid, come from the village neighbors, we have come up missing our Go, take good care of us.
