Kim Kardashian, Cher resolve to take a trip to Armenia together

November 26, 2018 By administrator

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and pop legend Cher have resolved to take a trip to Armenia together.

The two celebs who have Armenian roots met during a recent episode of the reality TV show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”.

It was talk of Armenia that bonded Kim and Cher.

“Everything you’ve done for the Armenian community has been amazing,” Kardashian told Cher.

The two stars remembered their respective visits to Armenia and said they both wanted to go back. In fact, they resolved to take a trip to Armenia together in order to make a “presence” there as, according to Cher, bad things are happening.

Kim, her sister Khloe, husband Kanye West and daughter North visited Armenia in April 2015 to shed more light on the country and stress the need for the recognition of the Genocide.

Cher, meanwhile, spent three days in Armenia in May 1993. She was flown to the country under the auspices of the United Armenian Fund, a nonprofit relief organization, on a rickety DC-8 cargo plane. With her came 45 tons of medical supplies, books, printing equipment, candy and toys.

Kardashian lipstick sale in Baku causes uproar in Azerbaijani media

August 25, 2017 By administrator

EurasiaNet has unveiled a new piece about the uproar that Kim Kardashian West’s brand name has caused in the Azerbaijani media.

For Azerbaijan, the article says, any product with an ethnic Armenian connection, whether a lipstick or a rifle, can be considered an enemy operation. You put a little bit of Kim Kardashian West (KKW) on your lips “and, boom, you support Azerbaijan’s enemy, one government-aligned media outlet warned.”

“You may say it’s just cosmetics, big deal. What does it have to do with the Armenian-occupied territories of Azerbaijan?” observed Azeri Today in a Russian-language article with the sub-title “For the attention of Azerbaijan’s Security Services!”

The story takes the trouble to respond to its own question.

The Kardashian family spends part of its earnings on “advancing the recognition of ‘the Armenian Genocide,’ Armenia’s military needs and on sustaining the separatist regime in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories,” the author posited.

The 36-year-old Kardashian West indeed campaigns for international recognition of the massacre of ethnic Armenians by Ottoman Turks as genocide. Both Turkey and its strategic ally and cultural kin, Azerbaijan, fiercely oppose such recognition.

But the celebrity is certainly not known for pitching against Azerbaijan in its arms race with Armenia or for promoting breakaway Nagorno Karabakh’s claim to independence.

The $45 KKW by Kylie lipstick collection, produced in California, is marketed exclusively by KylieCosmetics.com, a company branded for Kardashian West’s half-sister, the 20-year-old model and actress Kylie Jenner. The company limits sales to three of the same item per customer, but using a network of people to purchase hipster products online or to haul them in from Russia to resell locally is a longstanding Caucasus business practice.

Kourtney and Kim Kardashian Join Cher at Premiere of Armenian Genocide Film The Promise

April 13, 2017 By administrator

By Karen Mizoguchi,

Armenian-American singer and actress Cher united with Armenian-American reality stars Kourtney and Kim Kardashian to support the new film The Promise.

The trio attended the Los Angeles premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Wednesday, joining the film’s star, Christian Bale, on the red carpet.

Director Terry George’s new historical drama, also starring Oscar Isaac, focuses on the Armenian Genocide carried out by the crumbling Ottoman Empire during World War I. As the war drags on, the national mood gets worse and Armenian citizens become the victims of raging hate crimes.

Following the screening, the wife of Kanye West, 36, tweeted: “So proud of the movie #ThePromise Everyone please go see it and finally hear the story of the Armenian people.”

In April 2015, Kim and sister Khloé Kardashian traveled to Armenia for eight days during which they paid their respects to the Armenian Genocide Memorial in the country’s capital — which is dedicated to the estimated 1.5 million Armenians killed by the Ottoman Turks at the beginning of the 20th century. The visit was later shown on their family’s E! series Keeping Up with the Kardashians in October 2016.

Meanwhile, Cher, who was born Cherilyn Sarkisian, has been very vocal about her support for the film.

“Hitler said if they don’t remember the Armenians, they will not remember the Jews. We cannot let this happen to another group of people. I vow to keep the promise,” the icon said in a video released on Wednesday.

And back in October, Cher tweeted that she saw The Promise for the first time, writing: “NEVER AGAIN!”

Cher’s late father, John Paul Sarkisian, was of Armenian descent.

In addition, The Promise has garnered celebrity support from Leonardo DiCaprio, Barbra Streisand, Armenian-American tennis legend Andre Agassi, as well George Clooney and his pregnant wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, both of whom attended the film’s London premiere earlier this month.

All proceeds from The Promise, which hits theaters April 21, will be donated to non-profit organizations geared to helping spread Armenian culture and education, including Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.

April 24 will mark the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Kimye forever

In case you were mercifully unaware of the cultural phenomenon known as Kimye, one of the overarching things to know about America’s foremost celebrity power couple is that they are obsessed with each other.

Case in point? The supplementary interview that Steven Gan did for their September issue cover of Harper’s Bazaar. In the lengthy interview, Kim and Kanye collectively spend almost all of the interview talking about each other in glowing terms that land somewhere between sweet and gaggingly cloying.

This love fest wasn’t just between the world’s most talked-about couple, however; fashion legends Carine Roitfeld and Karl Lagerfeld love Kimye just as much as Kimye loves Kimye and were on deck to sprinkle compliments and praise liberally. See the most effusive soundbites from all parties involved, below.

Kim on Kanye:

Kim obviously thinks Kanye is a genius, unlike Sir Paul McCartney or Wiz Khalifa.

“I love always elevating and trying new things and I think that’s where Kanye comes in, because I swear he sees everything a few steps ahead of anyone else.”

She also credits him with her fashion transformation.

“He’s my best stylist. Every look I love is definitely something that he’s had a hand in helping to style or put together.”

Kanye on Kim:

Kanye credits Kim bringing body diversity to the fashion industry.

“My wife is the face of the change of fashion, where designers who literally wouldn’t let her sit in shows are now making entire collections based off of her shape.”

Kim Kardashian West and Marie Antoinette, just two girls with a lot of good press.

“[she] represents our modern day Marie Antoinette. She gets hair and makeup every day, not just for a photo shoot. Why? Because every day is a photo shoot.”

Karl Lagerfeld on Kimye:

Chalk it up to the language barrier, but there’s something uncannily astute about Lagerfeld referring to one of social media’s biggest stars as a “number.”

“It’s their style. His music is great, his recent album is great. She is a number. She is a personality. She has nothing to do with a tall model but people are more interested in her than in models. I think it’s an interesting phenomenon of our days.”

Carine Roitfeld on Kim:

Meanwhile, Carine Roitfeld’s fascination with Kim Kardashian has more to do with Kris Jenner’s home training than say, Kim’s recent exposé of Taylor Swift.

“I think there’s a controversy about her, but something we can say to Kris, her mother, is that she was very well raised and very well educated. This is very important for me.”

Kim and Kourtney attend an Armenian Bar Association event honoring their late father Robert Kardashian

June 15, 2015 By administrator

Robert-Kardashian-e1434366529125-620x300On Sunday evening Kim and Kourtney Kardashian attended an event dedicated to their father Robert Kardashian, who passed away in 2003, following a long bout with cancer, the Daily Mail reports.

Along with their cousins, Kourtni and Kara, the two ladies pulled out all the stops to attend the Armenian Bar Association event held at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Sharing a picture of them standing in front of their father’s honour to Instagram, Kim wrote: ‘Thank you to The Armenian Bar Association for honoring my father last night!’

A second picture showed the girls cosying up to their cousins and the wife of rapper Kanye West also wrote:

‘Thank you to all of my cousins, aunts & uncle who came out to the Armenian Bar Association event last night! Kourtni, Kourtney, Kara & I!’

According to Asbarez, the Armenian Bar presented the award posthumously to the late attorney, Robert Kardashian, in recognition of the importance of those who champion the Constitutional rights to due process and equal protection under the law, even if in unpopular cases.

The site adds that gala banquet co-masters of ceremonies and Armenian Bar Board members Gerard V. Kassabian and Vanna Kitsinian said of the honour:

‘We are so pleased to be able to welcome the family of Robert Kardashian to accept the honor on his behalf and also to recognize their contribution to international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.’

The event ran from June 12-14 in order to celebrate the Armenian Bar Association’s 25 years of unifying the colourful and distinct fabric of the Armenian nation.

Robert Kardashian, who passed away in 2003 just eight weeks after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, passed on his pride in his heritage to his family, who have been vocal about their Armenian roots.

Robert’s ancestors fled the Armenian Genocide in the early 20th century, thanks to a ‘prophet’ who urged them to uproot to America.

Known at the time as the Kardaschoffs, in Russian style, the family made their way from their home village of Karakale in the late 19th Century to German ports. From there, they travelled to a new life in America on the passenger vessels SS Brandenberg and SS Koln.

By doing so, they escaped the triple horror of the First World War from 1914-18, the Armenian Genocide’ starting in 1915 – exactly a century ago this year – and the Russian Revolution in 1917.

Among those fleeing Erzurum – then in Armenia, and ruled by last Russian Tsar Nicholas II was family patriarch Hovhannes Miroyan and Kim’s great great grandfather, born in 1844. He married Luciag Chorbajian, born in 1853.

The couple wed in Erzurum, which is now in Turkey, in 1867 but escaped along with their daughter Vartanoosh Mironyan, born in 1886, in the early 20th century.

Vartanoosh’s daughter Haigoohi Arakelian – known as Helen, born in America in 1917, was Kim’s grandmother, who later married into the Kardashian clan.

The glamorous and ‘dynamic’ Helen wed Arthur who ran the largest meat-packing business in southern California.

Helen’s son Robert married Kris Houghton and fathered the 21st Century’s biggest reality TV stars Kourtney, Khloe, Robert Jr and most famous of all – Kim.

Their mother Kris eventually married Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner and together they raised two more TV personalities, Kendall and Kylie.

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West set to renew vows in Paris

April 15, 2015 By administrator

kardashian_west.thumbThey had one of the most talked about marriages of all time last year.
And it seem Kim Kardashian and Kanye West enjoyed it to much they are planning on doing it all over again – just one year on.
The couple – who have 21-month-old daughter North together – are reportedly planning on renewing their vows in Paris and are hoping to secure the most romantic venue in the city to celebrate it, The Mirror reports.

The 37-year-old rapper was keen to organize a trip to the top of the city’s iconic Eiffel Tower for the celebration.

A friend shared: “They couldn’t imagine anywhere more romantic to celebrate one year of married life.”

However, his initial idea of having the tower illuminated with their names has been refused by the authorities.
A source added to the Daily Star newspaper: “[He was] a bit upset. He thought he could pull a few strings, but they said ‘non’.”
Kanye – who wed the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star in Florence, Italy in May 2014 – is believed to be organising a romantic boat trip up the River Seine, accompanied by a string quartet and opera singers.
The pair are currently in Israel to have their little girl baptised and they recently visited Armenia with Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian so the family can learn more about their heritage.

Kim’s rep denied the pair are planning on renewing their vows in Paris.

Kardashians Jet to Israel for Baptism Bring on the Holy Water

April 13, 2015 By administrator

By Nir Hasson

kim kardashian kanye west north ap armeniaThe 22-month-old daughter of reality television star Kim Kardashian and her husband, rapper Kanye West, was to be baptized Monday at the Cathedral of St. James, an Armenian church in the Old City of Jerusalem.

West, Kardashian and their daughter, North West, as well as Kardashian sister Khloe, landed in Israel for a private visit Monday, following a roots trip to Armenia.

The celebrities and their entourage had originally planned to stay at the new Waldorf Astoria hotel in Jerusalem, but reportedly switched to another hotel after their plans to stay at the Waldorf Astoria were leaked to the public.

An Israeli security firm that specializes in protecting VIPs reportedly was hired for the visit.

They were scheduled to visit the Western Wall and other Jerusalem sites, where they reportedly will take some footage for their reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” and it is rumored that the sisters will make a trip to the Dead Sea.

They reportedly will travel from Israel to Jordan.

In January reports emerged that Kardashian and her two sisters were planning to buy a Tel Aviv apartment worth $30 million.

Kardashian with the power of 77 Million followers Put Turkish Crime Against Humanity world media spotlight

April 10, 2015 By administrator

600x400xKim-Kardashyan-Garni-geghard.jpg.pagespeed.ic.T-gneDpjTPTop Armenian American socialite Kim Kardashian’s visit to Armenia has become one of the most debated events among online chattering classes and beyond, leaving practically no one indifferent.

Kardashian, a 34-year-old U.S. television star with worldwide recognition, arrived in her historical homeland on Wednesday evening along with her husband Kanye West, daughter North, and sister Khloe.

The visit of the renowned family has also put Armenia into an international media spotlight, with the world’s leading media like The Daily Mail, The Guardian, USA TODAY, the Turkish Hurriyet, and others covering Kardashian’s landmark trip that coincides with the time when Armenians prepare to commemorate the centennial of the genocide committed in Ottoman Turkey.

Almost everyone in Armenia is now talking about the Kardashians’ visit and social media are abuzz with comments on this subject. Various opinions can be heard about the star of Armenian origin from both public figures and ordinary citizens.

Politicians have also commented on the Kardashian family’s trip to Armenia. Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan appreciated her coming, saying that the entire world’s attention is directed to Armenia due to this circumstance.

“Kim Kardashian is a world famous lady, and we should be proud to see the world’s attention focused on Armenia. We like to gossip even about the best things. She is very popular and we should host her decently,” the top Armenian legislator said.

Levon Martirosyan, a lawmaker representing the faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), told media that the TV star’s visit should be used for the promotion of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“This is a very good means. She has 77 million followers on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other social media, at least 77 million people listen to each of her words. That should certainly be used for Armenia’s promotion, for promoting its tourist potential and for making the voice of our people once again audible,” he said.

Shushan Petrosyan, a singer and lawmaker representing the RPA faction, also said that it is necessary to use the occasion to promote Armenia’s interests.

“It’s very important to work on our side and give a right direction to her based on historical events. I don’t think she is interested in all this, but the information should be provided correctly,” she said.

Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe, accompanied by media, yesterday took a stroll around Yerevan, visiting, in particular, Victory Park. After that they were received by Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. And later in the day the Kardashians went to visit some historical and cultural places outside Yerevan – in Garni and Geghard.

In Armenia the U.S. celebrity sisters are shooting a one-hour episode of their TV show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

While in Armenia they are also expected to visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial at Tsitsernakaberd and travel to the country’s second largest city of Gyumri to meet some distant relatives.
