Azerbaijan to be expelled from the Council of Europe?

September 26, 2017 By administrator

Azerbaijan’s not carrying out the decisions by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) may lead to its expulsion from the Council of Europe (CoE), wrote Kommersant newspaper of Russia.

According to the paper, the CoE Committee of Ministers is for the first time preparing a petition to submit to the ECtHR Grand Chamber, since the Azerbaijani authorities refuse to carry out the ECtHR decisions, and the procedure was launched against Azerbaijan.

Kommersant recalled that if a country violates Article 46 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, it may be expelled from the CoE.

Azerbaijani authorities refuse to release opposition activist Ilgar Mammadov, despite the ECtHR decision that his detention was unlawful and politically motivated.

Terrorist State of Turkey: 330 more academics expelled with state of emergency decree,

February 8, 2017 By administrator

330-academics-expelledA total of 330 academics were expelled with a new state of emergency decree published in the Official Gazette late on Feb. 7, drawing criticism from the opposition and the scholars themselves about the effect the moves will have on education.

The academics were among 4,464 public workers who were expelled as part of the decree.

The expulsion of the academics also drew reactions from political parties, with main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) lawmakers Sezgin Tanrıkulu and Aykut Erdoğdu criticizing the decision.

“Dear academics, all those who faced injustices: These days will pass and the justice will be served,” CHP Istanbul lawmaker Sezgin Tanrıkulu said, while Erdoğdu, another Istanbul lawmaker, said those who “carry out the expulsions will carry the shame for the rest of their lives.”

Opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) also reacted against the decree, with HDP Istanbul lawmaker Filiz Kerestecioğlu saying that “students and professors don’t accept being dictated to.”

It has emerged that a total of 115 of the academics who were expelled with the latest decree have previously signed the Academics for Peace petition criticizing government operations in the southeast. The highest number of expulsions was carried out from Ankara and Marmara Universities.

With the latest expulsions there are only four academics left in Ankara University’s Theater Department. Süreyye Karacabey, who was previously expelled with another decree, said the department can no longer function.

Professor İbrahim Kaboğlu from Marmara University was among the names expelled. Kaboğlu previously criticized the charter amendment package, saying that the constitution cannot be changed under a state of emergency.

Turkey declared a state of emergency after the failed coup attempt.

Another professor who was expelled was Professor Öget Öktem Tanör, who is Turkey’s first neuropsychologist.

Pianist and conductor İbrahim Yazıcı, who had been acting as the art consultant for İzmir Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu since 2014, was also expelled.

Meanwhile, some of the names in the list of academics have released statements, saying that they won’t take a step back and that the expulsions are political.

“This is a political expulsion. I’m honest and my conscience is clear. I will never bow down,” Professor Yüksel Taşkın from Marmara University said.

“This is a great shame for Turkey’s universities and Ankara University. Today, the last teaching staff were expelled with a state of emergency decree just for demanding peace,” Professor Funda Başaran, a professor expelled from Ankara University, said in reference to the Academics for Peace signatories. “Places like the Political Science Faculty, Communications Faculty and the Language and Geography Faculty, which had a high number of signatories, are just four walls now … But we don’t need [empty buildings] to produce knowledge. We will again gather with our students. We will continue to produce knowledge and change the world with the knowledge that we produce. That’s why we don’t give a damn about the decrees.”

YEREVAN (Armenpress)—Belgian “Humanist Democratic Centre” (CDH) has expelled a Turkish-Belgian politician Mahinur Ozdemir from the party for refusing to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

The final decision to expel the Turkish member from the party was made by the ethics committee.

CDH leader Benoit Lutgen hailed the decision to expel Mahinur Ozdemir from the party, mentioning, “Political commitment requires clarity and full faithfulness towards the values embraced by us.”

Mahinur Ozdemir, who was the first to enter the Belgian parliament with a head-scarf, boycotted the momenet of silence dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims last spring, announcing that “The resolution adopted by European Parliament is not mandatory.”

Later she refused to sign the communiqué submitted by the head of her party, Lutgen, which assessed the incidents of 1915 as genocide, for which she was dismissed from the party.

Afterwards, she appealed the decision of the party. She demanded “Humanist Democratic Centre” Party to renounce the decision of her dismissal explaining it as an illegal measure and discrimination.

People known to have ties with radical Islamist groups must be expelled from France and not allowed back, the leader of the right-wing National Front Marine Le Pen said, after a suspected Islamist gunman was apprehended on a train.

“Foreigners who are known to have ties with radical Islamism must not only be filed in databases of the special services, but also immediately expelled from French territory, if they live in France. And anyway they must not be allowed entry,” said the French politician known for her anti-immigrant stance.

#AyoubElKhazzani n'aurait pas simplement dû être "fiché", mais expulsé et interdit de territoire ! Mon communiqué : https://t.co/oXLcv3P5Sa

— Marine Le Pen (@MLP_officiel) August 23, 2015

The statement came a day after a man, reported to be a 26-year-old Moroccan previously red flagged by Spanish special services for having Islamist ties, was restrained by passengers on a high-speed Thalys train. The man was carrying several weapons, including an assault rifle, and apparently intended to go on a shooting rampage.

Le Pen said in the case of the man, Ayoub El Khazzani, the French special services had demonstrated poor handling of information concerning potential security threats.

“The system doesn’t work because it doesn’t allow for the true question to be asked: why does France allow in a foreign citizen, who is known to be dangerous and connected to a murderous ideology,” she said.

“France today is a constant target for the barbarous criminals who take advantage of the lack of borders in the EU and the Schengen zone,” Le Pen added, saying that France should reestablish its national borders.

A Frenchman and two American soldiers who happened to be in the car prevented the potential massacre on the Thalys train, which was en route to Paris from Amsterdam. The would-be terrorist stabbed one of the US nationals in the altercation. Another man, famous French actor Jean-Hugues Anglade, cut his hand breaking the glass on the emergency stop button.

Belgium party leader: Armenian Genocide deniers to be expelled from our party

May 24, 2015 By administrator

Deniaer-no-placeIf there is an [Armenian Genocide] denier in the Humanist Democratic Centre, he/she will be immediately expelled, Benoît Lutgen, President of Belgium’s Humanist Democratic Centre said, referring to the scandalous statement by the Brussels MP Ahmed El Khannouss on the Armenian Genocide.

According to RTBF, the leader made it very clear that the deniers have no place in the party, since this contradicts the party’s Code of Ethics. “If there is a denier in the Humanist Democratic Centre, he/she will be immediately expelled. And I’ll tell you why: when I became a President, I asked each candidate to acknowledge all the genocides, including the Armenian Genocide. This is a written commitment, which is stipulated by our Code of Ethics in line with other obligations and rules of conduct,” Benoît Lutgen said.

Earlier, MP Ahmed El Khannouss from the Belgian capital city of Brussels had made a controversial statement in connection with the Armenian Genocide, consequently finding himself in the center of a debate. El Khannouss had recently written on Facebook about not recognizing the Armenian Genocide. His comment sparked a lot of criticism and some even accused the Brussels MP of denialism. In response, El Khannouss said he was misunderstood: “I have always been clear about the Armenian Genocide, which I acknowledge. I think there’s no need to argue over these historic sufferings.”

The Marmora (or Marmara) Island (today Marmara Adasi) is a large island in the Sea of Marmara situated some

to the Asia Minor mainland. They were sent to a place inhabited purely by Turks called Kermasti (today Mustafakemalpasa)
situated some 60km to the interior of Asia Minor in the Bursa district. Others were sent to Apollonias and Michalitch.

This 13 page leaflet comprises the testimony of Mr P.Theodosios who describes the persecution of the
Greeks of Marmora which includes their deportation, assassinations and beatings, deprivation of adequate food,  forced
