YEREVAN. – Armenian Embassy in Damascus and Consulate in Aleppo continue to work, representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
At the moment evacuation of the diplomatic mission is not being discussed, spokesperson for Armenian MFA Tigran Balayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The Ministry is taking moves to ensure safety of the Syrian Armenians and preserve Armenian cultural and historic heritage in Syria.
Overall 60-70 thousands Armenians were residing in Syria before the bloody events. More than half of them lived in Aleppo and the other half was scattered in the cities of Latakia, Homs, Qamishli, Hasaka, Raqqah, Kessab and, of course, the capital – Damascus.
