POLAND Armenian Genocide: Erdogan lobbied Merkel

July 13, 2016 By administrator

Erdogan lobbying merkelVoice of America (VOA) has just reported that according to information disclosed, Erdoğan called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel to publicly announce that the “Armenian resolution was not the government’s position” as one condition that members Germans are allowed to visit the 250 soldiers stationed at Incirlik.

In an interview with ZDF, she said: “A way must be found for members to visit the troops. We must continue to work on that, the solution is not yet there. “ In response to a question whether it would consider the withdrawal of troops from İncirlik if no agreement was reached, Merkel said she was focused on solving the issue by exchanging.

Cem Özdemir, the leader of the Greens in Germany, who is of Turkish origin, told the ARD television, “As Members who send soldiers to places we need to know where they are, how they are and be able to talk to the soldiers. If this is impossible in Turkey then the soldiers must return to Germany. “

The Secretary General of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU), Andreas Scheuer, also said that MPs should be allowed to visit the troops. “Because of his behavior, the Turkish President Erdoğan risk the withdrawal of the German army,” has he said Monday the daily Tagesspiegel.

Merkel rejects Erdogan: government will not make statement against resolution of Bundestag

July 11, 2016 By administrator

Merkel-rejectThe Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have said to Angela Merkel that he will allow the German MPs to visit the Incirlik military base, if the German government announces that it does not agree with the Armenian resolution adopted by the German Parliament . The Turkish periodical Diken reports that banning the visit of the German MPs to the Incirlik military base have  created a new tension in Turkish- German relations.

The Turkish foreign minister tried to ease the tension of the situation , announcing that the German military delegation can visit the Incirlik base, but the visit of the civilians is not appropriate . That statement provoked the outrage of the German MPs and the German Ministry of Defense . He said that they will go to Incirlik and meet with the German troops.

It is noted that the tension began within the framework of the NATO summit meeting between Merkel and Erdogan , when Erdogan announced that the German MPs will visit the military base in Incirlik , if the German Government states that it disagrees with the resolution that recognizes the Armenian Genocide earlier adopted by the Bundestag. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel rejected Erdogan’s condition, saying that the German government will not make a statement against the resolution of the Bundestag.

Erdoğan’s Kissing Buns

July 9, 2016 By administrator

YegparianBY GAREN YEGPARIAN,

Proving once again how shrewd and shameless he is, Turkey’s Sultan-in-waiting president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has realized he’s in over his head and is rapidly swimming to shore to save himself and the nouveau-corruption he has brought to Ankara.

He has realized he opened up too many battlefronts and is quickly establishing truces on some of them so he can focus his ego, power-hunger, and tyrannical inclinations on the remaining. In this respect, the Kurds, Armenians, and other minorities inside Turkey are likely to be more strongly targeted. Outside the country, Armenians and Syria are the likely targets once Erdoğan increases his maneuverable space.

Israel and Turkey signed an agreement in which Turkey got almost nothing. Its biggest demand – termination of Israel’s blockade of Gaza is unmet. Instead, Turkey is permitted to keep sending supplies to Gaza through an Israeli port, gets to build some facilities in Gaza, and must not allow Hamas to plan attacks from Turkey’s territory. Israel will pay $20 million into a compensation fund for those killed on the Turkish ship, Mavi Marmara, when Israeli marines stormed it as the ship tried to break the Gaza blockade. BUT, this only happens after Turkey passes legislation barring any further compensation and promising to compensate Israel if any legal actions outside of Turkey lead to Israel paying out any more money with regard to the Mavi Marmara incident. Given that the facilities mentioned are power and desalination plants as well as a hospital, it smells to me like a way for Turkish companies to make money off the misery of the people of Gaza. It is anticipated that natural gas soon to be produced by Israel from offshore sources will be sold to Turkey. This factor likely contributed to Turkey’s “cooperativeness” too, since Ankara wants to diversify its energy sources. Altogether, it looks like a pretty thorough humiliation for Erdoğan/Turkey.

With Russia, Turkey has embarked down a similar road. While the non-apology apology sent by Erdoğan to Putin is just a first step, both countries have reason to move past Turkey’s foolhardy shoot-down of a Russian aircraft operating in Syria. But Turkey’s tourism industry has taken a serious hit with the disappearance of Russian visitors after Moscow imposed sanctions on Ankara. This, too, promises to be humiliating for the wannabe-Sultan Erdoğan.

Once the row with Russia is tamped down, next may well be the U.S. Erdoğan has managed to irritate even the famously pro-Turkish establishment in the U.S. Department of State. How?
His bravado, not-so-secret support for ISIS/Daesh, re-initiation of civil war against the Kurds led by the PKK, undercutting Syria’s Kurds in their battle against ISIS/Daesh, and generally being a problem. Even Barack Obama criticized his former “chum” Erdoğan. And, with Donald Trump making anti-Turkish noises, Erdoğan may be thinking “it’s better to get things fixed up with America before a new president steps in.”

Recently, there was chatter that after Russia, Egypt might be the next country with which fences got mended by Turkey. This was the latest bout of such speculation since February when reports attributed such intentions to Ankara. But, Erdoğan came out with a statement that the “context” of the issues with Egypt was different than with Russia or Israel, so rapprochement with Egypt may not be coming very soon.

The E.U., though currently being played like a fine-tuned violin by Erdoğan, ergo not presenting much of a diplomatic challenge – just think of the refugee deal struck a few months ago – may be on the path to becoming more assertive vis-a-vis Turkey. This would not be limited to the seemingly interminable process of Turkey joining the E.U. Consider some of the sentiments in Great Britain that lead to a majority voting in favor of Brexiting. Think of Germany’s Genocide resolution. France’s parliament is now considering a Genocide denial prohibition law. Something may be brewing, all of which would force Erdoğan to become far more conciliatory. Conversely, it might lead him to conclude that even riskier adventurism is the way for him to consolidate support at home by invading Syria or Armenia (that which Turgut Özal did not do) or even engaging in genocide against the Kurds living in Turkey. It seems that he would stop at nothing in his ambitions to recreate an Ottoman Empire-like construct.

It’s even possible that part of the reason, or the real reason, for Erdoğan pushing Ahmet Davutoğlu out of the Prime Ministership was to change the face of Turkish diplomacy (Davutoğlu is credited with having been its inspiration and source since the AKP came to power) and have someone to blame as he tried to mend fences with all the countries mentioned above.

Messy, isn’t it? But clearly, Erdoğan is eating some crow and working hard to get himself out of the hole’s he’s dug for Turkey. Armenians, Kurds, and Syria should be watching Ankara’s maneuvers VERY closely over the next several weeks.

Do you have any insights? A discussion of these arcane diplomatic moves is important.

What’s the Excuse Now?

Alton Sterling – July 5, 2016, Baton Rouge, Louisiana… dead.

Philando Castile – July 6, 2016 in Falcon Heights, Minnesota (near Minneapolis)… dead.

Police murders both.

It would be too easy to rattle off names of unjustly killed people, overwhelmingly black, all under highly questionable circumstances. In almost all cases, what would seem like justice is somehow circumvented, and this goes at least as far back as Rodney King.

In these two most recent cases, one victim was a peddler of CDs (see him dying here). The other was following an officer’s instructions at a traffic stop, told the officer he had a gun he was licensed to carry, proceeded to reach for his ID… and ended up dying for having a busted taillight…

I can’t wait to hear the rationalizations for these two crimes. There a contingent of “explainers” who always seem to justify anything police officers do. In fairness, when you see and hear the videos, you’ll notice that the responsible police officers are extremely distraught and unnerved by what they have just done.

I had to write this brief item because our community is too oblivious about, or even on the wrong side of things, when these all too frequent tragedies occur. Each time I hear of these incidents, it seems as though a time machine transports me to the days of the Bloody Sultan’s Hamidiyeh militias sweeping down on an Armenian village and doing whatever they wanted. Remember, those groups were official representatives of the state at the time, as are the police of today.

We, as Armenians, unfortunately well experienced in being at the receiving end of injustice, must be at the forefront of the efforts to prevent future killings of innocent people. These needless deaths are happening only because most non-blacks in the U.S. have been inculcated with a fear of black-skinned humans. This causes even well trained police officers to over-react as you can see in the first video.

Get out there and use your credibility as a scion of Genocide survivors to save lives.

Now that Turkey & Israel back in bed again Erdogan lambasted Gaza-bound aid flotilla

June 30, 2016 By administrator

erdogan nethenWith a reconciliation deal between Turkey and Israel finalized, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has for the first time lambasted the organizers of the 2010 Gaza-bound aid flotilla.

Speaking in Ankara late Wednesday, Erdogan said the flotilla organizers at the Istanbul-based Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) did not ask for permission from him back when he was the prime minister.

“Did you ask me before you set sail? Did you ask my permission,” said Erdogan, who had long made Israel’s lifting of a siege on Gaza a precondition for resuming ties.

The flotilla incident triggered years of tension between Ankara and Tel Aviv, with the two sides announcing a restoration of their ties only this week after Turkey apparently dropped its conditions.

Erdogan’s criticism of the aid flotilla came hours after Israel’s cabinet approved the agreement to restore relations with Turkey following a six-year rupture.

The IHH had complained in recent days that the reconciliation deal was tantamount to acceptance of Israel’s blockade on Gaza.

“We were already delivering the same amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza, but without making an appearance,” said Erdogan.

“Now we have Israel’s promise, all aid supplies to Gaza will be permitted from now on,” he added.

However, in the Gaza Strip where about 1.8 million Palestinians have been under a crippling Israeli blockade for years, resident Khaled Nimer said the Turkish deal with Israel is “unfair” toward the Palestinian people.

“It only benefits Israel. It primarily serves Israel, and the siege on Gaza will remain as it is,” the Reuters news agency quoted Nimer as saying.

“Gaza doesn’t just need an electricity plant or a hospital where people can get treatment, Gaza needs many things, it needs a lot of support, not just a hospital, or a passage to let us in and out,” he said.

Close relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv soured after Israeli commandos raided the Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea on May 31, 2010, killing nine Turkish citizens and injuring about 50 other people. A tenth Turkish national later succumbed to his injuries.

Netanyahu and some Israeli officials have defended the accord, saying it will have a positive impact on the economy and raise the prospect of lucrative Mediterranean gas deals for the regime.

Under the deal, Israel’s blockade on the Gaza Strip will remain in place, but the regime is obliged to pay USD 20 million in compensation to the families of the Turkish activists killed in the Gaza aid vessel incident.

The Gaza Strip has been under an Israeli siege since June 2007. The blockade has caused a decline in the standards of living as well as unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty.

Israel has waged three wars on the coastal enclave since 2008, including the 2014 offensive, which left more than 2,200 Palestinians dead and over 11,100 others wounded.

The flotilla incident came as Erdogan was riding on a wave of popularity among sections of the Arab public opinion after storming out of a heated debate with former Israeli president Shimon Peres at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2009.

Erdogan’s Apology to Russia, Israel ‘Indicates Depth of Turkey’s Isolation’ on Global Stage

June 29, 2016 By administrator

Turkey islation in the worldA number of political experts believe that Erdogan’s apology and reconciliation with Putin indicate the depth of the isolation, which Turkey had to face over the last few months.

On Monday, the Kremlin announced that Erdogan had sent a letter regarding the incident with the Russian plane, in which he apologized for the incident and pledged to take any steps to “relieve the pain and severity of damage” caused to the family of the killed pilot.

According to German newspaper Bild, Erdogan’s decision to apologize for the incident with the Russian aircraft arose from Ankara’s growing isolation in the international arena.

“Ankara’s relations with Europe in the context of the refugee deal are going through hard times,” the newspaper wrote.

According to German magazine Spiegel Online, Erdogan’s move is “a great success” for Russia.

“The Kremlin scored more than just the required apology. Moscow’s positions in the Middle East have now strengthened. Ankara will be forced to recognize Russia’s presence in Syria,” the the magazine wrote, recalling that only a few months ago Erdogan labeled Russia’s involvement in Syria as an “occupation” and demanded the resignation of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

‘Testing the Waters’: What’s Behind Erdogan’s Letter to Dear Mr. Putin

In response to the downed aircraft Su-24, Moscow banned all charter flights to Turkey. In addition, it introduced an embargo on Turkish food which can now be withdrawn.

“What Turkey can expect now it the growing number of Russian tourists to its resorts,” German newspaper Das Bild wrote.

The sanctions imposed by Moscow against Turkish products have more severely affected the country’s economy than Ankara wanted to admit. The restrictive measures concerned not only food exports, but also tourism, a massive sector in which Russia has always played a main role.

“The Kremlin brought the proud, stubborn Erdogan to his knees,” Spiegel noted.

Before the relations between the two countries deteriorated, about four million Russians spent their holidays in Turkey every year. In 2016 the number of trip bookings to the country decreased by 92 percent.

The decreasing inflow of Russian tourists has had serious consequences for the Turkish economy and also because visitors from other countries preferred to stay away from Turkey. The number of German tourists fell by 31.5 percent in the first half of 2016, in particular due to domestic instability and an increasing number of terrorist attacks in the country.

‘War against terrorism’: Assad vows to continue fight, crush dreams of ‘fascist’ Erdogan

Syrian President Bashar Assad has vowed to continue the government’s “war against terrorism,” slamming the “fascist regime” of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The remarks came after Ankara reportedly sent troops to fight alongside rebels in Aleppo.

“Our war on terrorism will continue not because we like war. They imposed the war on us,” Assad said in a speech to the newly-elected parliament on Tuesday, reiterating the role that foreign countries have played in Syria’s five-year civil war. “The shedding of blood will not end until we uproot terrorism, wherever it is.”

Assad also said he plans to win back “every inch” of Syria, and that Aleppo will be a graveyard for Erdogan’s ambitions.

“Aleppo will become a tomb where all dreams and hopes of this butcher will be buried,” the Syrian president said, as quoted by TASS.

“The fascist regime of Erdogan focused its attention on Aleppo as it was crushed in Syria and this is the last hope to implement its ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ Islamist project,” he continued.

The Erdogan remarks come after the Syrian leader accused the Turkish president – a major supporter of those fighting to oust Assad from office – of recently sending thousands of insurgents to fight government troops in Aleppo.

Russia, which has been on a bombing campaign against Islamic State and other terrorist groups in Syria since September, said on Saturday that more than 2,000 militants had mobilized in the Aleppo area.

The city and its surrounding area – located on the border with Turkey – have been a focal point of the country’s bloody civil war, divided between government and rebel control. Aleppo is Syria’s second-largest city and former commercial hub.

Assad also blamed the opposition for its failure of three rounds of indirect peace talks in Geneva this year, calling his opponents “traitors for foreign countries who have become mats for the feet of their masters.”

He went on to thank Russia, China, and Iran for the support they have provided to the Syrian government. He also expressed gratitude towards the Lebanese Shia Muslim group Hezbollah.

The Syrian president emphasized the strong ties between the alliance, particularly with Iran and Russia, saying it was stronger than ever. He stressed that people should not listen to reports about “differences, struggles, and divisions.”

That statement came just one day after Moscow said it would provide “the most active” support to the government in order to prevent Aleppo from falling into the hands of terrorists.

The Syrian government has made advances since Russia began its aerial campaign, helping troops capture Palmyra in March.

“The way we liberated Palmyra and before that many areas, we will liberate every last bit of Syria from their hands. We have no choice but to be victorious,” Assad said during his speech.

He went on to reiterate that he has no intention of backing down and allow a sectarian partition of Syria, something he said is against the fundamental principles of the country’s constitution.

“A sectarian system turns the sons of the nation into enemies and foes,” he said.

The speech came as the government continued an advance to capture IS strongholds on Tuesday, including Raqqa. Syria’s air force also destroyed several IS positions south of Raqqa, according to the state news agency SANA.

Syria’s civil war, which shows no signs of ceasing, has led to the deaths of more than 250,000 people and displaced over 12 million others, according to official UN figures.

Typical of Turks: I am desperate I Apologize “Erdogan apologizes to Putin”

June 27, 2016 By administrator

Erdogan apologize 400President Vladimir Putin has received a letter in which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan apologized for the death of the Russian pilot who was killed when a Russian jet was downed over the Syrian-Turkish border last November, the Kremlin said, according to RT.

Erdogan expressed readiness to restore relations with Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, June 27.

The incident involving the downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber led to the worst deterioration of Turkish-Russian relations in recent history, with Russia describing it as a “stab in the back.”

“The head of the Turkish state expressed his deep sympathy and condolences to the relatives of the deceased Russian pilot and said ‘sorry,’” Peskov said.

In his letter, Erdogan called Russia “a friend and a strategic partner” of Ankara, with whom the Turkish authorities would not want to spoil relations.

“We never had a desire or a deliberate intention to down an aircraft belonging to Russia,” the letter read, according to a statement published on the Kremlin website.

According to the statement, Erdogan’s letter stressed that “the Turkish side undertook all the risks and made a great effort to recover the body of the Russian pilot from the Syrian opposition, bringing it to Turkey. The organization of the pre-burial procedures was conducted in accordance with all religious and military procedures.”

Ankara has treated the family of the dead Russian pilot as if it were a Turkish family and is “ready for any initiatives to relieve the pain and severity of the damage done,” the letter said.

The address by the Turkish leader also informed that a criminal investigation has been launched against the person suspected of killing the Russian pilot, the Kremlin said.

In addition, Erdogan expressed readiness to tackle security challenges in the region and fight terrorism together with Moscow, it added.

Turkish Hurriyet newspaper reported that sources close to Erdogan have confirmed that the letter with the apology was sent to Moscow.

On November 24, 2015, a Russian Su-24 bomber, taking part in an anti-terrorist mission in Syria, was brought down by the Turkish Air Force.

The plane crashed in a rebel-held territory in Syria near the Turkish border. The pilots ejected, but one was killed by machine gun fire from the militants on the ground.

Turkish nationalist Alparslan Celik has claimed responsibility for the death of Russian Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Peshkov.

Ankara claimed that it attacked the Russian bomber for violating its airspace, but was never able to provide proof that any wrongdoing took place.

Moscow vigorously denied the Turkish claims, calling the downing of the plane “a stab in the back” from a state which it had considered an ally.

Russia reacted harshly to the incident, imposing a wave of sanctions against Turkey, which affected trade, tourism, joint energy projects and other areas.

From the start, the Kremlin made it clear that restoration of normal relations with Turkey would be impossible without Ankara apologizing and paying compensation to the pilot’s family.

Turkey Whistleblower claims Turkish defense company trains secret armed organization for Erdoğan

June 26, 2016 By administrator

Erdogan the terrorist 1A Turkish whistleblower has claimed that a defense consulting company in Turkey has been training a secret armed organization to serve as an alternative army to Turkish Security Forces (TSK) and carry out bloody attacks on the orders of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Fuat Avni, a Twitter user with nearly 3 million followers, took on Twitter late on Saturday to report about the SADAT International Defense Consulting company, which he claims to be training a secret army to serve for Erdoğan’s purposes.

Avni has a credible record of uncovering corruption and irregularities rampant among the government officials. He claims to be in the inner circle of President Erdoğan.

He claimed in a series of tweets that a secret army as well as some Islamic State and the Levant (ISIS) members have been trained by SADAT defense company, which was founded by the retired Brigadier General Adnan Tanrıverdi as an illegal formation under legal disguise on the orders of Erdoğan in 2012.

The whistleblower says that the defense company once trained ISIS members but stopped when western intelligence organizations found out about it.

According to Fuat Avni’s tweets, the company now trains teenagers from the youth branch of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Osmanlı Ocakları (Ottoman Organization) – a movement whose members are open supporters of Erdoğan – as triggermen to stage bloody attacks in Turkey and abroad.

“People and organizations that speak out against the narcissist [Erdoğan] will not only be tried, but will also be targeted by this secret armed organization,” the whistleblower said, regarding the alleged organization as a building stone for a possible civil war in Turkey.
