Does the two Armenian new leaders in a popularity contest over foreign policy issues?

June 28, 2018 By administrator

Tert.am reporting citing Hraparak paper

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is said to be in strong disagreements with the president over a range of foreign policy issues.

The paper claims that President Armen Sarkissian is planning a trip to Baku in the near future though sources from the presidential administration deny the report, considering it absurd. Citing its sources, the paper says further that the president may also visit Iran.

Though Sarkissian did not discuss the issue with the Iranian ambassador whom he met ahead of his recent trip to Europe, the paper claims that the president is nonetheless preparing to visit the Islamic Republic. Also Prime Minsiter Pashinyan is said to be planning a visit to Iran. Later, in July, the premier will travel to Brussels to attend the NATO summit, says the paper, adding that a key issue on the meeting aganda will be a scheduled discussion over possible measures to restrain Russian aggression.

BAGHDAD,— The Miss Iraq beauty pageant is taking place Saturday for the first time in more than 40 years. The contest is being held in a bid to boost tourism for the country.

The Iraqi Beauty Pageant contest started in 1947. All of the beauty contests are still held in Baghdad in Al-Alwaiyah center. Sources disagree on the location. According to the website The History of the Miss Iraq Pageant: “The 2011, 2012, 2013 Miss Iraq Pageants were held in Kenya. 2014 Miss Iraq was held in Istanbul-Turkey, the 2015 edition will take place in Cyprus on December 16”.

In 2013, the Kurdistan capital city of Erbil started holding the first beauty contest for Kurdish speakers only organized by a Lebanese management group.

The final round of the Iraqi 2015 contest was postponed from October, after some local tribal leaders expressed their opposition to women taking part in such an event.

At least two contestants have withdrawn the contest after receiving threats.

As seen on the photo, some Iraqi candidates for Miss Iraq beauty contest pose at the ancient archaeological site of Babylon, outside the modern city of Hilla, south of the capital Baghdad on December 17, 2015.

The beauty contest, which is the first one in more than 40 years, will take place on December 19, 2015.

Eurovision Song Contest: Armenia to be represented by Genealogy! #Eurovision2015

Armenia has come up with a new and innovative idea for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest: The country will be represented by artists from all five continents! The project will be called Genealogy, and they will sing Don’t Deny in Vienna.

Peace, unity and tolerance – that will be the key message of the Armenian entry in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. Inspired by the symbol of a forget-me-not flower and of Building Bridges, the slogan of the contest, a wholly new concept was born. eurovision.tv

Taking into account numerous requests of the Armenian diaspora, five musicians from Europe, Asia, America, Africa, and Australia, all of Armenian origin, will be part of the band Genealogy. The idea is to unite a new generation of Armenians on stage whose families once spread all over the world in the year 1915.

A Global Forget-Me-Not Flower

The five artists at the same time symbolize the five petals of the forget-me-not flower. In their centre, the group will be unified by a sixth artist, who will be from Armenia.

The stage name of the project in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be Genealogy, and they will sing Don’t Deny.

The first member of the band will be announced on February 16. Stay with Eurovision.tv to be among the first to know!

Did you know?

It’s not the first time Armenia is being represented by an act that refers to its globally spread diaspora:

In 2010, Eva Rivas sang Apricot Stone in Oslo – a song refering to Armenians living far from home, feeling their strong links and longing to the far-away motherland.

Like the forget-me-not flower in this year’s entry, the apricot is also a heavy symbol for Armenians – the fruit even gave its color to one part of the Armenian flag!
