Armenian Genocide Centennial concert to be held in US city

Armenian-genocide-concertA concert marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be held on October 11 in Troy, New York, USA.

Members of the Armenian, Jewish, Greek, Italian and Catholic communities will participate in this event, reported timesunion.com.

The first half of the program will feature performances by ensembles of diverse origin, including Armenian. The second half will feature the New York Catholic Chorale performing Armenian songs.

Yerevan hosts first concert of British army band

21380348842_f0b94505c0_bYEREVAN. – The Salamanca Band and Bugles Of The Rifles British Army band had their first concert in Yerevan.

On Monday the musicians will be visiting Spendiaryan and Tigranyan music academies.

On Tuesday they will be performing at Freedom Square, outside the Opera House, and on Wednesday is the highlight of the whole visit which will be a concert in Republic square where they will be joined by the band of the Armenian Ministry of Defense. All of these concerts are free.

Earliar in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Nick Wilkes, UK Defence Attaché Georgia, Armenia & Azerbaijan said to bring the band to Armenia  was a good opportunity to make both defense relations and cultural relations closer.

Aznavour to give concert in Paris Palais des Sports

The musician has prepared an exceptional surprise for his fans, Nostalgie.fr reports, as he is planning to give six concerts at the concert hall Palais du Sports from September 15 to 27. The singer will appear on stage on September 15, 17, 23, 25 and 27. The concerts will start at 8:30 pm Paris time.

Aznavour will perform his famous hits but concentrate for most part on the album Encore, says the website, adding that the disc released in 2015 is a tribute to the singer’s tenacious character and fans’ support.

Concert in Verona to mark the centenary of the Armenian Genocide

Arena-di-Verona-620x300Renowned classical sound director and producer Igor Fiorini is planning a major project, in conjunction with acclaimed Italian live sound engineer Luca Giannerini, which will take place at the end of September 2015, according to dpamicrophones.com.

This will involve the live performance, recording and broadcast in high definition DXD/DSD of a concert to mark the centenary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Entitled The Amen Project, the concert will take place at the main Arena in Verona and will use music, words and dance to trace the history of the Armenian people to the current day.

“We will have plenty of musicians to capture, plus a number of choirs including a children’s choir,” Fiorini says. “This is a massive cultural event that will be broadcast live on television so it is imperative that we get it right.”

Paris Triumph of Armenia in concert “Youth for Peace” at UNESCO

Armenia has made an extraordinary demonstration of his musical talents with the concert organized by the Permanent Delegation to UNESCO on June 3 in Paris.

Young National Orchestra of Armenia led by Sergey Smbatyan, conquered an audience that does not hide his pleasure in cheering up, repeatedly, the benefits of these exceptional talents. Since the great cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan to the magnificent singers Inga and Anush Arshakyans, through the ethno-jazz jazz Katuner Together, the show excited about his professionalism and filled a packed room.

The orchestra played in a remarkable way the works of Aram Khatchadourian, Komitas, and also accompanied with great mastery, the superb performances of Michael Voskanyan at târ, Gevorg Dabaghyan, the duduk, Narek Kazazyan at Kanun, as well as the accordionist Roland Romanelli. With this beautiful musical performance, probably one of the most successful in recent years on the Armenian stage, Armenia has given the extent of his artistic expertise and professionalism.

This concert, which was attended notably Viguen Sargsyan, representing the President of the Republic of Armenia, Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO – who introduced the evening with speeches – and Ambassador of Armenia Vigen Tchitetchian, s ‘ended as it should by a long standing ovation from an audience thrilled.

System of a Down (SOAD) was full last night at the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, for his concert dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The Californian metal band consisting of American Ameno give 7 concerts in Europe, the last will be held in Yerevan on April 23, on the occasion of the centenary of the extermination of the Armenians. Engaged, the four members of the metal quartet, all of Armenian descent, wanted to with this particular tour marking the centenary celebrations of the Armenian Genocide and also evoke the memory of the victims of 1915.

Argentina 1915-2015 Symphony concert in Buenos Aires

Concierto_3-480x245-480x245-1Sunday symphony concert was organized in Buenos Aires by the Committee of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide in front of a large audience. The title of the show “Por ti Armenia” is a direct reference to the song by Charles Aznavour and Georges Garvarentz “For you Armenia”, created especially following the earthquake of December 7, 1988.

The program works by Aram Khachaturian, Alan Hovhaness and Arno Babajanian. Also the songs of Luis Alberto Spinetta and compositions of Astor Piazzolla. #ArmenianGenocide

Several ceremonies are planned in April. Including the Book Fair of Buenos Aires and the Luna Park Stadium. Note that the traditional gathering of 24 to 28 April was postponed due to elections that prohibit political action.

arton108787-400x300On March 5, the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was in Jerusalem for a concert by the Symphony Orchestra of Jerusalem on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with the slogan “With you, Armenia! “.

The concert hall of Jerusalem was fully booked for this special concert which were played creations of Komitas, Aram Khachaturian, Bethoven and Stepan Rostomian. 300x220Famous singer Sirusho who is in the USA for now, gave an interview to the Channel “US Armenia” and spoke about her career, activities, personal life and upcoming concert..

Sirusho mentioned that all the facebook posts that shared the photo of her baby child were fake photos though the babies were very beautiful and nice children. She also mentioned that it is possible to see her child for the first time during her solo concert which will took place on 9th of November in Los Angeles.

Armenia, Yerevan Rock concert to benefit Yezidis (Video) #helpyezidis

Save-yazidiA citizens’ initiative, launched by Anna Grigoryan * and young people, helped to organize a rock concert in Yerevan, in the park of the National Assembly in favor of the Yezidis and to draw public attention to the plight dramatic suffered by this community in Iraq.

The event brought together many groups and singers from the cream of the Rock scene of the Republic of Armenia before a large audience.

* Anna Grigoryan graduated from Yerevan State University in Economics. She is involved in humanitarian and worked for the International Labour Organization (ILO).
