Turkish lawmakers banned to say “Armenian Genocide”

July 28, 2017 By administrator

YEREVAN. – Turkish parliament has approved a package of internal regulations, one of them banning lawmakers from saying Armenian Genocide in the parliament, editor of the Armenian department of Agos newspaper Pakrat Estukyan said.

The real goal of this law is to limit the speech of lawmakers that are not pleasant for the authorities,

“The ruling party and leadership are worried about speeches of certain lawmakers, for example Garo Paylan,” he said, adding this is the reason that ruling party together with nationalist party pushed the draft bill.

Estukyan believes new regulations are especially targeted against the lawmakers from Democratic People’s Party.

The amendments were supported by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), while the opposition voted against. The amendments suggest imposing fines on lawmakers who will insult “the history of the Turkish nation”. The phrases “Armenian Genocide”, “Kurdistan” will be banned.

The editor also recalled that the oath of Turkish MP, famous Kurdish human rights defender Leyla Zana has been denied and she can be deprived of a parliamentary seat. The reason is that while taking the oath Zana said she would be faithful to the Turkish nations (using plural), not Turkish nation

Erdogan ‘Not Welcome’ in Germany After New Nazi Taunts – CDU Deputy Chair

March 21, 2017 By administrator

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is not welcomed in Germany amid his recent speech about German Chancellor, the deputy chairman of her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) said Tuesday.

(Sputnik) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan crossed a line when he compared Chancellor Angela Merkel to Nazis and is not welcomed in Germany, the deputy chairman of her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) said Tuesday.

“Mr. Erdogan and his government are not welcome in our country… If he comes he should not be allowed, in my opinion, to make an appearance. This would threaten our country’s security,” Volker Bouffier told the Deutschlandfunk radio.

The war of words between Turkey and Germany escalated over the weekend when Erdogan accused Merkel of taking “Nazi measures” against his ministers and 1.4 million of eligible ethnic Turkish voters.

Germany came under a barrage of Nazi-themed jibes from Erdogan, who hit the campaign trail last month to drum up support for a reform that will give him greater executive powers. Bouffier ruled out Erdogan would tone down his rhetoric after the mid-April vote on it.

Erick Erickson, the organizer of the event and a major conservative activist tweeted late on Friday night, “I have rescinded my invitation to Mr. Trump. While I have tried to give him great latitude, his remark about Megyn Kelly was a bridge too far.”

In a follow-up blog post, Erickson amplified why he was disinviting Trump: “there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross,” he wrote. “Decency is one of those lines.”
