The Georgian police have detained underage prostitutes of Azerbaijani origin in the port city of Batumi and other resorts, Haqqin.az reported.
The law enforcers are now said to be checking possible links with human trafficking attempts.
Metanet Azizov, the head of Women’s Crisis Center, has said that most girls now leave Georgia for Turkey for fear of being caught by the police.
“Their number is not just scores; it is hundreds. The law-enforcers have already confirmed the reports that underage prostitutes leave for Turkey. That’s because of massive arrests,” she was quoted as telling the Azerbaijani website.
Earlier statistics revealed that Azerbaijani girls often become trafficking victims in Georgia.
