Azerbaijan takes away traceries of Nizami Gyanjavi’s grave written in Persian: Iran’s MFA responds

August 20, 2013 By administrator

“Azerbaijani authorities destroy the traceries of the grave of the Iranian poet Nizami Gyanjavi written in Persian,” the Iranian “azariha.org” reads.

Iran traceries of NizamiThe Iranian source notes that the traceries of the grave of the Iranian poet Nizami Gyanjavi written in Persian have been taken away under the pretext of resumption but have not been resumed again.

The author of the article touches upon the above mentioned fact and writes, “In recent years Azerbaijan distorts the identity of the Iranian famous poet Nizami Gyanjavi. In that connection “Heydar Aliyev Fund” has paid 110 thousand Euros to the Roman City Hall in order to erect Nizami Gyanjavi’s statue in of its squares identified as Azerbaijani writer. The Italian researchers however expressed their protest about this fact.”

“Azerbaijan, during the last 20 years, is presenting Nizami Gyanjavi, who has no line in other language than Persian, as an Azerbaijani writer. Moreover, Axerbaijan changes also the surnames that have the ending “zade,” adds the Iranian source.

Iranian news agency FARS reports that the IRI MFA speaker Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has noted in particular at the meeting with the journalists, “Even if the poems of Nizami Gyanjavi that are depicted on his gravestone in Persian are written in Turkic it will not change the historical and cultural identity of the Persian poet.”

The Iranian sites refer to Azerbaijani media and inform that on 2014 Azerbaijan is going to release banknotes on which the Iranian poet Nizami Gyanjavi will be depicted.

On this regard Scientific Council Member of Tehran University Gholam Abbas Aqbar had stated at the meeting with the journalists that Azerbaijan having no old history takes up any step to create a culture for itself.

Azerbaijan, besides the fact of presenting the Iranian poet as an Azerbaijani has also prescribed Iranian musical instruments which has caused the discontent of the Iranian officials and artists.
