A number of anti-terror marches in Turkey turned violent when the headquarters of Kurdish problem-focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Ankara, as well as its office in another Central Anatolian city were attacked by nationalist protesters on Sept. 8.

Dozens of demonstrators pelted the HDP headquarters in Ankara with stones, before they were dispersed by police. Police detained one protester over the attack, according to CNN Türk channel.

In the neighboring province of Kırşehir, HDP’s local office was attacked by another group and its flag was lowered, replaced by Turkish flag as the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) supporters marched for a demonstration entitled “Damn Terrorism.”

The march turned violent when around 150 people in the crowd set fire to four shops owned by Kurdish businessmen, according to Turkish media.

The fire, which destroyed the four shops, was put out by fire brigades without causing casualties.

Turkey nationalists attack Armenian orphanage in Istanbul

September 8, 2015 By administrator

camp=-armenian-1There was an attack against Camp Armen Armenian orphanage in Istanbul, Turkey.

Six people armed with clubs approached the orphanage building on Monday night, and attempted to open its gates, informed the website of the Nor Zartonk movement of Istanbul Armenians, and which keeps watch in the area and against the demolition of Camp Armen. Those keeping watch, however, were able to force back the attackers.

Nonetheless, those keeping watch at the orphanage forewarn that such attacks may repeat, and therefore they ask for support and solidarity.

Camp Armen Armenian orphanage was confiscated by the Turkish authorities back in 1987. Subsequently, it was sold to a Turkish businessman who, in turn, decided to demolish the orphanage and build luxury homes in the premises. As a result of public pressure, however, the demolition of the orphanage has been temporarily halted.

The camp was once home to around 1,500 Armenian children, including the late Hrant Dink—the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul, and who was shot dead on January 19, 2007 outside the office of his weekly—, and his wife Rakel.

The orphanage sought to help underprivileged Armenian children and orphans, who had moved to Istanbul from other parts of Turkey, get an education.

Thousands of Turkish Police, Soldiers, Daily Attacking Kurdish Cities With Heavy Weapons

September 7, 2015 By administrator

Since 24th of July, 32 civiturkish_military-300x170lians have been killed, and several injured. Turkish military and police forces in Kurdistan reportedly say: ‘Many people will die and we will remain in the districts till the end of elections`. After 48 hours of attacks in Şırnak’s Cizre district and the murder of four civilians, the attacks by the Turkish military state have started now in Diyarbakir`s Sur district. Read more

Special operation teams blockaded Sur district as of the early morning hours of today, and opened fire on people at random in Hasırlı neighborhood. While the blockade by security forces in the neighbourhood continues, people have started to gather in the district in anger over the arbitrary shootings and deliberate blockades. Police forces are now attacking those peoples too. At the same time, phone and internet lines remain cut off, which hinders the provision of proper information from the area. Currently the limited flow of information indicates that two people have lost their lives so far, but it is possible that the numbers of killed and injured could be much higher.

No Security of Life for Kurds

These attacks highlight the lack of security of life for Kurds, as the Turkish state forces prepare for yet another massacre of civilians. During today’s crackdown, and the security forces attempts to enter neighbourhoods and open fire at random in Cizre and Sur, six deaths have resulted. It is reported that police, in their reign of terror, have threatened that ‘many people will die’, and that they will remain present in the district until the elections.

Thousands of police, soldiers and special operation teams have been deployed to schools, and other state institutions around the neighbourhoods of Nur, Sur, Cudi and Yafes in Cizre and the neighbourhood of Hasirli in Sur. Additionally, a large number of tanks and armoured vehicles occupy the streets, increasing the level of fear and terror for the civilians. Reports indicate that some 600 special operation police were dispatched to the district in 250 armoured vehicles, and over 150 buses brought in Special Forces two days ago in line with an instruction from the Ministry of the Interior.

Local People are Trying to Resist

Civilians are resisting the curfew in place since yesterday in Cizre and Sur, and youths have started carrying out self-defence operations to hinder police forces from entering the neighbourhoods. HDP Şırnak deputy, Ferhat Encü and Cizre co-mayor Leyla İmret, stated that the hospital in the district has been blockaded by police forces, preventing civilians from taking the injured to access medical assistance.

Using the so-called fight against IS as a pretext, AKP also launched a wave of repression against Kurds in Turkey and Iraq. This war is weakening the Kurds who have been successfully battling ISIS and is boosting the morale of and strengthening ISIS.
We call upon the international community to stand up against the war declared by the Turkish state, its military, its police and its special forces.
We call upon the EU, UN and the USA to speak up against the dirty plans of Turkey.
We call upon the international media to go to Kurdistan to report on the war, and document and highlight the vast number of atrocities being enacted against the Kurdish people.

Supporters of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attacked the building of the Hürriyet daily with stones on Sunday night, accusing the daily of misquoting the president in a report.
A group of 150 people which chanted slogans supporting the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Erdoğan attempted to enter the building. After private guards failed to disperse the group, police intervened.

The attack followed a Twitter campaign organized by pro-government trolls and columnists who called on people to protest the daily after it reported on a televised speech of Erdoğan. During the speech, while commenting on the recent unrest in the country, Erdoğan said the situation would be different if people had given a single party 400 deputies and the power to establish government on its own. His statement came as many soldiers were killed in a fresh ambush by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Dağlıca.
“Dağlıca comment from Erdoğan, These would not have happened if 400 deputies were given,” Hürriyet tweeted. The editors of the daily deleted the tweet after reactions. Pro-government circles claimed that Erdoğan did not made a reference to the Dağlıca attack yet his statement was a response to a question on claims that politicians’ harsh statements and his earlier statements indirectly calling for 400 deputies for the ruling party ahead of the elections lie behind recent environment of clash and terror incidents.

At least two people were killed on Sept. 5 in separate attacks by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in Turkey’s eastern provinces, official security sources have told state-run Anadolu Agency.

In the first incident, militants reportedly blocked the Tuhi Bridge on the Şemdinli-Yüksekova highway near the village of Yufkalı in the southeastern Hakkari province late Sept. 4. They stopped two vehicles and set them on fire after forcing their drivers out.

Celal İnan, driver of the pick-up truck that was passing by, tried to escape but was killed when militants shot at his car with long-barreled weapons, according to officials.

Miran Kaya, a district official from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) who was travelling in the truck driven by İnan, was injured in the attack.

Security forces launched a wide-scale operation in the area to apprehend the assailants.

Meanwhile, a woman, who was critically wounded during a PKK attack on a police station in the eastern Tunceli province on Sept. 4, died at Tunceli State Hospital.

According to hospital sources, 32-year-old Ayten Günhan succumbed to her wounds at the intensive care unit on Sept. 5.

Her body was sent to Malatya Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.

The attack is the latest in a litany of violence that has swept eastern Turkey since the collapse of a ceasefire between the PKK and the government in July.

Late Sept. 4, clashes between Turkish security forces and PKK militants intensified in a number of southeastern towns.

A curfew was ordered in the Şırnak province’s Cizre district, where unconfirmed reports said there have been several casualties in fierce clashes.

The Şırnak Governorate issued a written statement on Sept. 5, noting that the curfew was extended.

The statement said security forces were dispatched in Cizre to remove ditches and barricades on the town’s streets that PKK militants reportedly placed bombs and mines inside.

One civilian and one police officer were killed and three were wounded in separate attacks in Turkey’s eastern provinces on Sept. 4, official security sources have said.
In the first incident, at least two militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were also killed in Turkey’s eastern Tunceli province after an exchange of fire with security forces on Sept. 4, local security sources said.

A group of PKK militants opened fire on the Şehit Nahit Bulut Police Department on Cumhuriyet Avenue.

Police responded with gunfire and in the resulting exchange two militants were killed at the entrance of the police station. Security teams have been dispatched to the area to contain the ongoing clash, sources added.

Separately, a specialist sergeant was critically wounded in a roadside bomb attack on a security patrol in eastern Van province at noon on Sept. 4, security sources said.

The patrolling Turkish soldiers were from the Yeşilbulak Military Guard Post of the 4th Border Battalion, the sources added.

The wounded soldier was transferred in a military helicopter to the Dursun Odabaşı Medical Center in the Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine. Security forces launched an operation in the area to detain the attackers.

On Sept. 4, one civilian was killed and two others, including a child, were wounded when PKK militants opened fire on a pickup truck in southeastern Şırnak province, security sources added.

The 27-year-old driver of the vehicle succumbed to his wounds while being transferred to Şırnak State Hospital. A six-year-old child and a specialist sergeant were wounded in the attack, the sources added.

Government figures show 72 security forces and 20 civilians have been killed since July 7 – when a police officer was shot dead in a PKK attack – while 965 PKK militants have been killed since July 22 in land and air operations in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq.

Five policemen injured in attack in Turkey’s southeast

August 31, 2015 By administrator

pol.thumbAt least five policemen were injured in a roadside bomb attack on a police vehicle in the southeastern province of Şırnak on Aug. 31, the Hurriyet Daily News reports quoting official security sources as saying.

According to official sources, members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) detonated a bomb planted on the İdil-Cizre Highway as an armored police car passed by.

The injured policemen were taken to İdil State Hospital for treatment.

Operations against the PKK – listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the European Union and the United States – came after it renewed attacks on Turkish security forces following the July 20 Suruç bombing that killed 33 socialist activists. The attack was blamed on jihadists, but the PKK accuses the Turkish government of responsibility for the blast.

Breaking News: Turkey Kurdish PKK attack Turkish power station, one soldier killed

August 23, 2015 By administrator

breaking news-1DIYARBAKIR, Turkey – Kurdish militants armed with assault rifles attacked a hydroelectric power station near the southeastern Turkish city of Diyarbakir on Sunday, killing a soldier and wounding three others, security sources said.

The attack, the latest in two months of escalating clashes which have brought a peace process to the brink of collapse, did not disrupt the operations of the plant. Military attack helicopters were searching for the militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) after they fled, the sources said.

Turkey has launched more than 400 air strikes against PKK camps in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey since late July, in what it says is a response to mounting attacks on police officers and soldiers. Ankara, the United States and European Union all consider the PKK a terrorist organization.

Kurdish activists accuse Turkey of launching the military campaign in a bid to stifle Kurdish political gains in Turkey and territorial ambitions in northern Syria, where groups allied to the PKK have been battling Islamic State insurgents. Ankara denies these accusations.
