Thursday, July 30, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met at the Military Academy the new officers of the Armenian Army. S. Ohanyan welcomed and congratulated the new military cadres of the Armenian Army trained in Armenia, but also in military academies in Russia, China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany and the United States. The Armenian Defense Minister said that the formation of these frames of Armenian Army would strengthen the military power of Armenia by giving its staff a discipline and a greater knowledge. Seyran Ohanian also welcomed the officers trained at the Military Academy in Armenia which provides training of the highest level. “Each year the number of our officers and military officers who have received high-level training is increasing,” says Ohanian.

Russian expert: Despite Azerbaijan’s militarization, Armenian army is one of the most efficient in post-Soviet territory

The Armenian Armed Forces remain one of the most efficient armies in the post-Soviet territory, despite a rapid arms build-up of Azerbaijan, well-known Russian military expert, editor-in-chief of the magazine ‘National Defense’ Igor Korotchenko said in an interview to ArmInfo news agency, according to ‘Novoye Vremya’ newspaper.

“This factor is possibly the most important in ensuring a balance of forces in Nagorno Karabakh, and in fact, on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as well,” he stressed.

According to him, Russia is directly interested in keeping the balance and it takes all possible steps in that direction as the parity of forces is a guarantee of peace and stability – although relative – in the South Caucasus.

Armenian army proved its battle worthiness – expert

The Armenian army showed its battle worthiness, proving once again that it is capable of carrying out all the tasks set before it, media expert Karen Vrtanesyan told reporters on Wednesday.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said at an earlier press conference today, “The enemy once again attempted to test the morale of Armenians. Our forces foiled over 20 subversive acts of the enemy over several past days and you should be aware that our defense guards are keeping vigil on the frontline and are prepared to defend the homeland.”

Commenting on Seyran Ohanyan’s statement, Vrtanesyan said, “Azerbaijan is trying to achieve success in some area so as to present that success to its society in order to cushion its defeat, but its attempt is a failure.”
