US-Armenian award-winning jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan on Tuesday gave a concert on the Akhtamar Island of Van (Turkey).
Haber3 reports that the musician played under the accompaniment of the Armenian State Chamber Choir.
As part of his concert tour Luys i Luso, he is set to give concerts in a total of 100 churches of Armenia. Lebanon, France, Sweden, Belgium, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Germany, Luxemburg, Russia and US.
The program will later continue until June 30, attracting more cities and towns of Turkey.
The concert on Akhtamar was attended by different officials from Turkey’s province of Van.
The cultural event, which lasted 90 minutes, drew a great interest, said Tamar Nalci, a coordinator of the Antatolia cultural projects.
“Tigran Hamasyan is an acclaimed Armenian jazz pianist. He performs concerts in different places around the world accompanied by the Armenian choir. It is his second concert in Turkey. The interest is big,” he said.
Hamasyan’s first concert in the country was on June 21. Accompanied by the Yerevan State Chamber Music Choir, he performed in the historic ruins of Ani.
