A petition has been launched for the release of former co-mayor of Amed’s Sur district municipality, Abdullah Demirbaş, and all ill prisoners held in Turkish jails.
Demirbaş suffers from hereditary deep vein thrombosis and remains jailed pending trial despite facing a death risk and a medical report highlighting the urgency of his release because of health problems.
Kurdish politician’s daughter said her father was being held in prison unlawfully, adding; “My brother joined the PKK because he didn’t believe justice in this country.”
CALL FOR SOLIDARITY
Berfin Demirbaş called for solidarity with the petition and urgent action for the release of his father and all ill prisoners.
Wife of Demirbaş, Ziynet Demirbaş, said her husband became sick and vomited blood last week, adding that she demanded the release of not only his husband but all the thousands of ill prisoners held in Turkish jails.
