Turkey: Recep Tayyib Erdogan so called Kurd peace process is a typical Turkish political ploy

August 22, 2015 By administrator

Mission Rescue ISISErdogan’s purpose in military strikes is to fan nationalistic feelings against Kurds in the hope of winning more votes in the early elections to regain the lost majority in the parliament. Help save Islamic state

“The PKK probably lost a few dozen people early on as they were not expecting such a sudden or ferocious series of air strikes,”

“However, the PKK has lots of experience dispersing and hiding from the Turkish military.”

Turkey attack kills soldier in southeast Turkey

August 22, 2015 By administrator

c63a6a77-97e6-4b78-9861-60187290fad6A militant attack on an army post in southeast Turkey has left one Turkish soldier dead and four others injured, the Turkish military says.

The militant rocket and sniper attack took place late Friday in the Beytussebap district of Turkey’s Sirnak Province, an army statement said.

The Turkish army said the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) was behind the attack.

Continued clashes

Clashes have been going on on a daily basis between the PKK and Turkish armed forces since July, when the military started its raids against PKK positions in southeast Turkey as well as in northern Iraq.

Turkey says its warplanes have conducted new air strikes against PKK targets, killing 29 militants on Thursday and Friday. Separately, at least 12 militants were killed as the military clashed with PKK members near the town of Uludere, close to Turkey’s border with Iraq on Friday, the military said.

Meanwhile, Turkish media reported that suspected PKK members threw two bombs outside the regional headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the city of Diyarbakir, damaging a police water cannon truck parked outside and injuring a policeman who was inside the building.

Officials, driver go missing

Also, ten Turkish customs officials and a driver were reported missing in the eastern Van region of Turkey, Anatolia news agency reported, adding that the missing people were possibly abducted by the PKK.

The PKK is concentrated in the Kurdish-dominated southeast of the country.

The PKK has been fighting the Turkish government for separation since 1984.

Turkish army captain killed in PKK attack

August 22, 2015 By administrator

194942An army captain was killed when militants of the  Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attacked a military outpost in southeastern Turkey late Aug. 21.

PKK militants targeted a gendarmerie outpost in the Beytüşşebap district of the Şırnak province at 9.30 p.m. Captain Ali Alkan and two more soldiers were wounded in the clash that continued for an hour, Turkish media reports said.

Captain Alkan died at the Şırnak Military Hospital at 2.00 a.m. on Aug. 22, as the army launched an operation to find the perpetrators who fled the area after the attack.

Before Alkan’s death, 55 Turkish security personnel were killed in terrorist attacks across Turkey over the past month, while Turkey claim the security forces have killed 771 militants from the PKK in operations within the country and in northern Iraq, according to official figures.

Meanwhile, suspected members of the PKK threw two bombs outside the regional headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir.

The attack severely damaged a police water cannon truck parked outside, injuring a policeman who was inside, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

10 customs officials and a driver were reported missing in the Van region of eastern Turkey close to the border with Iran, state-run Anadolu Agency reported, saying it was possible they had been abducted by the PKK.

The PKK has been staging daily attacks against the Turkish armed forces as the military keeps up air raids and military operations against its strongholds in southeast Turkey as well as northern Iraq.

Over 50 members of the Turkish security forces have been killed in attacks blamed on the PKK but the government has vowed to maintain its campaign against the group.

Turkey lashes out at BBC for ‘supporting terrorism’

August 21, 2015 By administrator

e4123599-743a-4cdd-888b-f739c445a550The Turkish government has censured the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for airing a report on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), saying the news organization is “overtly” supporting “terrorism.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday slammed the BBC’s coverage of the “written and visual propaganda of the PKK terrorist organization,” saying a report by the channel on August 20 was an attempt to whitewash the image of the militant group.

“Giving such coverage to an organization designated as terrorist by many countries including the EU member states is an overt support to terrorism,” a statement on the Foreign Ministry’s website said, adding that the broadcast “attempted to portray this illegal organization… as if it were an innocent organization merely engaged in a struggle with another terrorist organization.”

The controversial report by the BBC narrated the story of an Izadi woman in Iraq who escaped captivity by the Daesh Takfiri terrorists and joined the PKK. It showed images of PKK training camps where Kurds and Izadis were being prepared to fight Daesh.

Turkey has been engaged in major military operations in its southern border region over the past weeks. The Turkish military has been conducting offensives against alleged positions of Daesh terrorists in northern Syria as well as those of the PKK in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey.

The military operations began in the wake of the deadly July 20 bomb attack in the southern Turkish town of Suruc, an ethnically Kurdish town located close to the Kurdish town of Kobani on the other side of the border in Syria, where over 30 people died. The Turkish government blamed Daesh for the bombing. On July 22, the PKK claimed responsibility for the killing of two Turkish police officers, saying they were cooperating with Daesh.

The Friday statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the BBC’s report facilitated PKK’s recruitment, adding that the militant group could become more encouraged through “such irresponsible and hypocritical approaches vis-a-vis terrorism.”

It said the PKK has killed more than 60 people and injured hundreds more in its new wave of attacks in southern Turkey.
