Opinion: Yerevan city council elections ‘were both happy moments but also people were voting still in revolutionary mindset.

September 24, 2018 By administrator

A brave elderly woman that refuses to take a taxi walk with Cain to vote to make history and she talk to GagruleLive while others shayway.

Opinion: Wally Sarkeesian Observation:
Yerevan city council elections ‘were both happy moments but also people were voting still in revolutionary mindset.
from my experience by talking to people from taxi drivers to people on the street and outside the polling stations, the people had one candidate in mind even though there were 12 candidates running. Pashinyan wind swap My Step” bloc to the power.

Only the polling station that has some popular candidates or party leader running you would see media with massive cameras other districts with absolutely no media present.
We visited Davtashen District however the communist minded bureaucrat would not allow us in, they kept telling us to go here and there to get permission but after crisscrossing Davtashen from one department to another with no luck, however, we manage to take some picture and talk to some voters.

The voting process looked like efficient the turnout was almost double at least the polling station that we were present according to the poll monitoring staff.

Serena Williams loses to Naomi Osaka in U.S. Open final after umpire spat

September 8, 2018 By administrator

Serena Williams

By Nick Zaccardi,

NEW YORK — Serena Williams berated the chair umpire, calling him a thief and his punishment sexist. The penalty was controversial, but the defeat thorough.

This U.S. Open final promised to be memorable. It certainly was.

Naomi Osaka played brilliantly in the biggest match of her life, winning 6-2, 6-4 in her first Grand Slam final at age 20.

For so long, Osaka dreamed of playing her idol Williams in a major final. Not just playing, but winning. That became reality on Saturday, but not in a way should could have ever imagined.

Osaka, who moved from Japan to Long Island with her family at age 3, denied Williams a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title (and first as a mom).

She became the first Japanese player to win a major. It shouldn’t be her last. She did so fearlessly, showcasing the shot-making that put her into the final dropping just one set in six matches the last two weeks.

Most notably, it came after Williams screamed at chair umpire Carlos Ramos after she was docked a point penalty for two code violations (illegal coaching from the stands and smashing her racket).

Williams was then docked a game penalty for a third code violation, verbal abuse after calling Ramos “a thief” over the first violation.

Williams received that first code violation when Ramos deemed that her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, gave Williams illegal advice from her box at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Early in the second set, Mouratoglou appeared to make a hand gesture looking at Williams suggesting she move closer to the net during points. Williams denied she received the coaching, telling Ramos between points:

“One thing I’ve never done is cheat. If he gives me a thumbs up, he’s telling me to come on. We don’t have any code, and I know you don’t know that. And I understand why you may have thought that was coaching, but I’m telling you it’s not. I don’t cheat to win. I’d rather lose.”

Mouratoglou said after the match that he was coaching, but he didn’t think Williams even saw it.

“I was [coaching], like 100 percent of the coaches on 100 percent of the matches,” Mouratoglou said after the match on ESPN, adding that he had never before been called for a coaching violation. “So we have to stop this hypocrite thing. [Osaka’s coach] Sascha [Bajin] was coaching every point, too. It’s strange because this chair umpire was the chair umpire for most of the finals of Rafa [Nadal], and Toni [Nadal] is coaching every single point.”

Later in the second set, Williams received a second code violation for smashing her racket after being broken on serve. She approached Ramos’ chair after she realized she had been, by rule, docked a point for two code violations.

“This is unbelievable,” she said, approaching Ramos. “Every time I play here, I have problems [Williams had memorable arguments with chair umpires in 2004 and 2011 U.S. Open losses, plus told a lineswoman she would stuff a tennis ball down her throat in a 2009 defeat.]. … I didn’t get coaching. I didn’t get coaching. I didn’t get coaching. You need to make an announcement that I didn’t get coaching. I don’t cheat. I didn’t get coaching. How can you say that? … You owe me an apology. You owe me an apology. I have never cheated in my life. I have a daughter, and I stand for what’s right for her. I’ve never cheated. You owe me an apology. You will never do another one of my matches.”

After Osaka went up 4-3, Williams again spoke at Ramos from her chair, saying, “You stole a point from me. You’re a thief, too.”

Ramos gave Williams a third violation for verbal abuse, which constitutes a game penalty, putting her down 5-3 and on the brink of defeat.

“Are you kidding me?” Williams repeated. “Because I said you’re a thief? Because you stole a point from me. But I’m not a cheater. I told you to apologize to me.”

Williams then asked for the tournament referee Brian Earley to come out. Earley and WTA supervisor Donna Kelso heard Williams out. She told them as the crowd booed:

“That’s not right. You know me. You know my character. And that’s not right. This is not fair. This has happened to me too many times. This is not fair. This is not fair. To lose a game for saying that is not fair. … You know how many other men do things that are much worse than that? This is not fair. This is unbelievable. … There are men out here that do a lot worse, but because I’m a woman, you’re going to take this away from me? That is not right. I know you can’t admit, but I know you know it’s not right. I know you can’t change it, but I’m just saying that’s not right. I get the rules, but I’m just saying it’s not right. It happened to me at this tournament every single year that I play is just not fair. That’s all I have to say. It’s not fair.”

September 2, 2018 By administrator

By Wally Sarkeesian, Fresno, California.

The Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual team have put up an impressive show from the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2729 W. Griffith Way on Friday afternoon   to over 500 guests attended the celebration at Fresno State Satellite Student Union University.

On August 31 Friday something incredible happened in Fresno look like just another house on the block, but the Fresno home where Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and playwright William Saroyan lived out his final years is now open to the public as an interactive museum.

The museum features a hologram of Saroyan and a setup of his desk and part of his home as it was when he lived there. The rest of the house is filled with photos, videos and interviews taken of Saroyan throughout the years, posters of his work and his drawings.

Mayor Lee Brand, Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria and Mr. Artur Janibekyan Founder of the renaissance cultural and intellectual foundation were in attendance for the grand opening. The museum is in Soria’s district.

Saroyan’s home of 16 years has been converted into a high-tech interactive museum in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Central Fresno.

“Hologram is usually something that is fun for kids to see an actual character in actual space so that’s why we came up with the hologram thing,” said Meroujan Minssian.

Saroyan was born in Fresno in 1908 and died at the Veterans Hospital in 1981 of cancer. He purchased the home on Griffith Way 17 years before his death and split his time there and abroad, according to his biography.

The Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual Foundation, based in Armenia, purchased the house in 2015 and set out to renovate it to honor Saroyan and the Armenian community.

Fresno CA. William Saroyan House Museum Grand opening

August 31, 2018 By administrator

By Wally Sarkeesian
Lee Brand, the Mayor of Fresno Today we officially opened the William Saroyan House Museum. A great way to celebrate what would have been Saroyan’s 110th birthday at the house where he spent the final years of his life. This museum house will preserve the history and legacy of William Saroyan for future generations.

The grand opening of the house-museum welcomed City Councilmember Esmeralda Soria, founder of Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual foundation Artur Janibekyan and Fresno Mayor Lee Brand. Soria said Saroyan grew up in what is now downtown Fresno because of a city law that blocked immigrants from owning or living in certain areas.

Saroyan purchased the house 17 years before he died of cancer at Veterans Hospital.

The Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual Foundation, based in Armenia, purchased the house in 2015 and renovated it. Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria and Fresno Mayor Lee Brand were in attendance for the grand opening. The museum is in Soria’s district, Fresno Bee reported.

Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States Grigor Hovhannisyan was also in attendance for the inauguration.

The architect from the project Meroujan Minssian told Wally Sarkeesian Gagrule.net they wanted to design a museum that kids of all ages would like,

Formula One live: Belgian Grand Prix

August 26, 2018 By administrator

Lewis Hamilton starts the Belgian Grand Prix in pole position and with a 24-point lead over his closest rival Sebastian Vettel. The Mercedes driver will be looking to emulate his victory at the same circuit last season.

21/44 Hamilton appears to have some blistering on his rear tyres. He’s not worried, saying he’s got enough grip. But we’ll have to wait and see how long that lasts. He’s about 3.3 seconds behind Vettel…

19/44 Valtteri Bottas continues his progression up the field. He overtakes both Marcus Ericsson and Pierre Gasly in quick succession. He’s now up to 8th. He started in 17th. Kevin Magnussen is next in his sights, about three seconds ahead.

Lap 16/44 Hamilton was struggling to make any ground on Vettel, but after a new fastest lap, he’s now about 3.5 seconds behind the Ferrari.

Lap 15/44 Fernando Alonso after the crash, hailing the halo for keeping Charles Leclerc safe:

“I’m happy he’s ok. It’s proof of how good the halo is.”

This is how Alonso crashed down on him…

Lap 14/44 Verstappen sounds like he’s enjoying himself out there – “it’s very nice to drive and it’s all good” he says on the radio. Can he get ahead of Hamilton next? He’s about 12 seconds behind.

Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas is creeping his way back up the field, now in 10th.

Lap 10/44 Vertsappen makes another move, this time overtaking Perez. He’s up to third now!
