The first action of the trustees, who were designated by the Turkish state in the municipalities of the Kurdish-populated towns in Turkey, has been the removal of signs in Armenian.
These trustees, whose function is managing the towns in lieu of the mayors, have removed the Armenian sign that read “Derik Municipality” from the entrance of the building of this municipality in Mardin Province, reported CNN Turk news agency of Turkey.
Turkish authorities accuse Kurdish mayors of assisting Kurdish militants, and therefore these mayors were relieved of their duties.
The Turkish state has designated trustees, who are temporary administrators of towns, in lieu of the Kurdish mayors.
