YEREVAN. – Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan on Tuesday received the representatives from the “Midia-Shangal” Yezidi union NGO.
The minister appreciated the Yezidi people’s contribution during the Karabakh War, their participation in the protection of the borders of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and their great role in army-building, the MOD press service informs.
Ohanyan stressed that there is no discrimination in Armenia against its national minorities, and the Yezidis, together with the Armenians, take part in the development and strengthening of the country.
In his turn, “Midia-Shangal” Chairman Amo Sharoyan noted that their newly formed NGO also seeks to contribute to the modernization of the Armenian Armed Forces, combating against the harmful occurrence within the army, ensuring accurate media coverage of these phenomena, and raising the moral and psychological conditions.
He assured that the Yezidis, together with the other citizens of Armenia, stand ready to defend the country’s borders.
The interlocutors also discussed matters of mutual interest and reached agreements on cooperation.
