“HORIZON”: – On Tuesday, June 26, the Armenian community of Toronto hosted the Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Hovhannisyan and the delegation accompanying him. The Prime Minister’s visit aims to strengthen Armenia-Diaspora mutual confidence in creating opportunities for beneficial investments to Diaspora diaspora employers. The delegation consisted of Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Science Hagop Arshakian, Deputy Minister of Diaspora Babken Der-Grigorian, Deputy Prime Minister’s Officer Serge Varag Siserian, Deputy Prime Minister Viktoriya Aitzinian, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Mane Adamian, Bussiness Armenia representatives , Alina Yeghiazaryan and Narek Alexanyan.
During the day, the prime minister and members of the delegation had various meetings in Toronto. At the initiative of the Canadian Armenian Business Council (CABC) and Bussiness Armenia, a dinner at Lara’s Canteen hosted by the Canadian Armenian businessmen was introduced to the new government’s political program and process, the possible formats of cooperation with the Diaspora and the opportunities for profitable investments in Armenia.
Yererkoyan held a public gathering at Torino’s Armenian Center, during which the Deputy PM conveyed his message.
Hagop Chanpazian, a spokesman for the Armenian community of Toronto and Bussiness Armenia, emphasized that the Armenian people still have a tremendous way of development and that the two countries are facing a major national challenge. Then, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Minister of the Diaspora Babken Der Grigorian were invited to the stage. The prime minister touched upon the new government’s process and style of work, emphasizing the need for national solidarity and civic solidarity based on the rule of law and equality before the law. The prime minister emphasized the important role of the Diaspora in the reinforcement of the new Armenia. He particularly underlined the importance of the restoration of Armenia-Diaspora trust and the liberation of monopoly in Armenia. He also said that the new government will highly appreciate the participation of the Diaspora in the creation of a democratic homeland and will boost the participation of the Diaspora not only with charity donations, but also with scientific and human potential, as well as encouraging investments in the fields of agriculture, the gastronomy and the sub-sectors :
Then, various issues were discussed, including the draft law on dual citizenship, the creation of an anti-monopoly position, and the process of strengthening ties with the EU. The prime minister and the deputy ministers responded to the polls in a transparent manner. The prime minister also clarified that in order to make investments in Armenia, the Armenian-Canadian Armenians could apply to Bussiness Armenia.
It is worth mentioning that the Prime Minister assured that the question has no political character and the monument will be put in place by answering a question about information circulating on the postponement of Aram Manukian’s monument.
At the end of the celebration, Horizon had an opportunity to have a talk with the Deputy Minister of the Diaspora, Babken Der-Grigoryan, who stated that the ministry’s prioritization was to create a new vision and strategy, with the main target being Armenian preservation and repatriation and better use of the Diaspora’s professional potential for the benefit of Armenia.
