Armenian, Russian NSC Secretaries discussed accumulation of Azerbaijani military equipment at the border

Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council, held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev, Grigoryan wrote on his Facebook page.

“We discussed our cooperation agenda in both bilateral and multilateral formats as well as a wide scope of issues concerning the security agenda,” Grigoryan wrote.

The strengthening of continuous cooperation in the defense and security sectors was bilaterally stressed, NSC Secretary said, adding: “Meanwhile, I expressed my concerns over the recent bellicose rhetoric of Azerbaijan and the accumulation of military equipment at the border.”

Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, highlighted the need to resume peace talks aimed at the NK settlement process.

Number of ongoing programmes were a topic of discussion between the two officials, the message said.

YEREVAN, JUNE 14,  Security Council Secretary of Armenia Armen Grigoryan raised concerns over arms sales to Azerbaijan by Belarus in a meeting with the Ambassador of Belarus to Armenia Igor Nazaruk, ARMENPRESS reports Grigoryan made a note on his Facebook page.

“Dear compatriots, today I met with Ambassador of Belarus to Armenia Igor Nazaruk. I conveyed our deep concerns to the Ambassador over the fact that Belarus, being a friendly country to Armenia and having partnership obligations, sells arms to Azerbaijan fostering arms race in the region that jeopardizes the efforts aimed at preserving stability in the region”, the Secretary of the Security Council wrote.

In April 2018 some information appeared in the Russian press, according to which Azerbaijan plans to supply Polonez Multiple Launch Rocket System to Azerbaijan. On June 11 it was confirmed that the process of supplying has started.

 

Armen Grigoryan appointed secretary of Armenian Security Council

Armen Grigoryan graduated from the Yerevan State University and the American University of Armenia. He used to work for “Transparency International” organization .
