A Turkish official reportedly says the explosion was caused by a vehicle as witnesses shared apparent images of the scene on social media
A huge explosion has been heard in Ankara near the Turkish parliament, local media reported, with witnesses on social media sharing images apparently of smoke emanating from the scene.
A large number of people have been injured, according to CNN Turk, during the incident in front of a military building. A Turkish official told Al-Arabiya the blast was caused by a vehicle exploding.
The explosion occured outside military lodging facilities and Turkish newspaper Today’s Zaman said the blast hit a bus carrying military personnel.
Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish prime minister, said authorities were looking into the blast: “We have received information and we are looking into it.”
