YEREVAN.- The authorities and Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan personally have organized the detention of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan during the pre-election period to strengthen the atmosphere of fear in the country, to expose the force and intensify the pressure on political opponent, the RPA Executive Body noted in the statement.
The statement reads:
“As it was expected, the Court of Appeal upheld the judgement of the first-instance court on remanding Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan. To say that this decision has nothing to do with legality means to say nothing. To say that this decision is a clear political order means to say nothing. To say that this is Pashinyan’s personal revenge means to say nothing.
Obviously, the authorities and Nikol Pashinyan personally organized this arrest during the pre-election period in order to strengthen the atmosphere of fear in the country, in order to demonstrate strength and increase pressure on political opponents.”
