Meet Kev:
A scientist, teacher, and activist, Kev has a longstanding history of serving his community.
As a proud husband and father, creating a more sustainable future is a top priority, particularly as environmental issues continue to escalate and hinder future social and economic growth. As a longtime resident of Irvine, Kev wants to ensure the city maintains its status as a globally-leading place to live, do business and achieve higher education by building on its legacy of forward-thinking, meticulous master-planning. As climate change, housing, traffic, and congestion become growing concerns for Irvine residents, Kev is determined to enhance the city’s infrastructure to meet its changing needs.
Kev is an astrophysicist who teaches new generations of students, workers and leaders as a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Cosmology at the university.
Kev is also a member and serves for a number of organizations, including the CSU-UC Cal-Bridge Undergraduate Program, the UC Irvine Council on Faculty Welfare, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Friend of Science Network, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Board of Advisors and California Coordinator for 314 Action, the Armenian National Committee of America, the Armenian Assembly of America, the American Astronomical Society, and the American Physical Society. Kev’s passion for civic engagement and politics dates back several decades, during which he’s helped the right candidates get elected and mobilized voters to make their voice heard through the ballot box.
