The annual international IT forum will be conducted in Armenia for the first time between October 6-9, bringing together more than 2,500 representatives of the sector from over 70 countries.
An Armenian delegation did take part in last year’s World Congress on Information Technologies (WCIT) in Hyderabad, India, officially assuming the title to host WCIT-2019 in Yerevan (an opportunity granted to the country back in 2014), says the paper.
“That’s the kind of event where business persons and innovators from all over the world gather together to focus their discussion on the future of the IT sector. And given that the IT sector is developing rapidly today, with the vision of future being really important, the world countries’ interest in the congress is now great. The conduct of this congress in Yerevan will enable us to meet with, and listen to, representatives of the major technology industries, opening up new prospects of development to [enhance] Armenia’s positioning on the global IT map,” Karen Vardanyan, CEO of the Union of Advanced Technologies Enterprise (UATE), told the paper on Thursday.
