The Armenian Educational Benevolent Union (AEBU) in Pasadena is now accepting applications for the AEBU Scholarship Fund for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Under the scholarship program, five undergraduate students currently enrolled at an accredited United States college or university will be selected as scholars and awarded $1,500 each, an AEBU announcement on Tuesday said.
“At AEBU, we believe that scholarship is an investment in education to empower our youth for a brighter future,” the organization said.
To qualify, students must be of Armenian descent, have a minimum GPA of 3.3, demonstrate financial need, and should show community engagement especially by being actively involved in the Armenian community.
Students who meet the above criteria are advised to visit the website www.aebu.org for additional information and to apply online.
Completed scholarship application packets must be submitted online, or sent by mail to AEBU Scholarship Committee, 1060 N. Allen Ave. Pasadena, CA 91104, postmarked no later than June 30, 2019.
The AEBU selects scholars for the annual grant through a competitive application and review process.
Scholarships will be awarded to the top five qualified candidates.
Results will be announced by the end of July 2019 on the AEBU website as well as by email to the scholarship recipients.
The AEBU was established in 1969 as a charitable organization by a group of volunteers dedicated to enriching the lives of those in need by providing tuition assistance and educational options. It is exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
