The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Bureau has
released a statement over the possible exploitation of Amulsar gold
mine, warning against the hasty actions of the government in light of
the controversy in the public over the mine exploitation.
Prioritizing the national and state interest, the public solidarity, the
secure exploitation of natural resources, the sustainable development
of the country and the protection of the environment, the Bureau
expresses concern that the conclusions of the recent audit does not
provide convincing and trustful grounds among the public and expert
circles, thus urging the government to refrain from making its final
decision on exploiting the mine based on the audit conclusions.
The party Bureau calls for addition public and expert discussions
considering the resonance and the serious impact and risks the
exploitation of the mine may have on the country’s social-economic and
environmental prospects. It also advocated for reaching a final decision
arising from the public and state interests through holding a
referendum.
